another brisk night. Jonathan had left the alley. he leisurely strolled along the darkened streets, fiddling with something in his hands. a sliver watch. it didn't tick and was stuck at half past midnight. half past midnight. Jonathan knew why it was stuck at half past midnight. he knew, one could tell simply by the look of longing in his eyes as he stared at the clock.
half way across town a girl sat up in her bed. she was glistening in sweat, whether from the fever or the dream she had awoken from, one could not tell. the charcoal smeared under her light eyes and her lips parted in a whisper. "Audrey, my name is Audrey." for the first time in what could have been years, the girls eyes filled with tears.
what a tragedy such a young girl condemned to a horrible fate.
