"Wake up, please"
everybody wants me to wake up
my mum
the lads
even you

You stay the longest though
maybe you like to see me strapped up
wires and tubes stuck into every part of me

You cry my name
you howl it
so loudly
I'm surprised
they haven't kicked you out yet

You keep telling me
you're sorry
I'm afraid
I cannot forgive you
or believe you
until you tell everyone
the terrible truth

The truth will devastate them
that's for sure
but I know that
It will also kill you
once you know how
to face it

Would you do it?
do it for me?
do it for yourself?

You do
the first person you tell is my mum
I listen to her cry
and scream
and shout
you're a filthy
lying
bastard

Then you tell our friends
I listen to them curse
and scold
and go off
about you being an unfaithful
heartless
twat

You keep telling them sorry
your pleas growing more softer each time
your voice weak and dry
your throat tired and parched

They leave the room
they leave the both of us
angry
furious
with you

But the last person you tell
is yourself
you let yourself finally
face the truth
you howl
you scream
you pull at your hair
you claw at your wrists
you spill blood and tears
the nurses have to drag you out

I am still
not
