Aaleeyah's P.O.V

I walked through the trap house smelling nothing but weed, cocaine, patron, and 1800. I hated that smell because it always made me sick to my stomach; I heard whistling from different guys in different directions over & over. I just ignored it and walked faster to my brother’s office. When I got there I knocked on the door, I could tell he was mad because he opened the door and pulled me inside then slammed it closed real loud and angry like. I just took a seat not worrying about what was about to come out of his loud mouth.

Aaleeyah Carlissa Maria Petty! You want to tell me where you have been for the past 7 hours!? He shouted.

First of all, I’m 21 years old stop saying my whole fucking name & stop trying to act like mom, Second of all, I’m grown. Third of all, I was chilling with my friends no big deal. I said.

He sat there quiet as hell, I got up and left. I didn’t have time for his bullshit right now; I walked outside and sat on the porch. I saw my mom (well a lady I call mom).

Hey momma. I said.

Hey baby girl. She said. How are you doing?

I’m doing fine. I said. How about you?

Same. She said.

It’s a very small town so everybody knows everybody so it’s all good if someone gets into trouble then they won’t rat you out depends on how tight you are with that person. I got bored so I scrolled on my phone back & forth, I looked up and seen Langston or as people call him “Lang.” He waved at me and smiled I looked at him in disgust; I didn’t have time for his bullshit either. I buried my head in my hands and just relaxed my muscles, I looked back up and seen Langston standing in my face smiling like an idiot I sighed heavily.

What do you want Langston? I asked.

Damn ma, can you give me a chance without the funky attitude? He asked.

Wow answering a question with a question how cliché. I said.

He smirked at me and sat down next to me.

But anyways how’s your day so far? He asked.

It’s good, but you know I’m not supposed to talk to you, And I hope you know that you’re on my brother’s property and he can get his goons at the snap of his fingers. I assured him.

Yeah, I know. But I had to take a chance and talk to you. He said.

Why is that? I asked.

Because I never actually talked to you after we stopped hanging out when we were younger. He said.

You fucked it all up, I mean we could’ve talked, but you chose to give yo life away to the streets, and you certainly know that I hate a boy who does that shit. I said.

Yeah, I know. But look you know that school wasn’t for me either. I didn’t have the best grades, I would always get suspended or just kicked out. He said.

True, but I’m just saying we were best friends but now it’s like we don’t even talk anymore. It’s like we’re just complete strangers. I said.

Well, how about (GCO)

He got cut off by my brother who was standing there in the doorway with rage taking over his whole body. “Oh my god.” I said to myself. Can he just go back in the house?

What are you doing here Langston? He asked.

I’m talking to an old friend. He said.

You know you’re not supposed to be over (GCO)

Just leave him alone, and go back in the house! I shouted. I’m grown; I can take care of myself!

Okay, think of that next time you need me to come get yo stubborn ass out of trouble. He said.

Yup. I said.

I grabbed Langston's hand and we walked to Crenshaw. I seen all his little gang members one every side of the street. No lie I was actually kind of scared because of what his gang was compared to do.
