Today was the first day I went to school without Michael. It felt different not being with him or Calum. And the morning definitely did not start well.

Sam's POV
I had no motivation to do anything the next morning. I literally rolled out of bed and crawled to the bathroom. I got into the shower and was hit with a blast of cold water.
"Zoe! You used all the hot water!" I yelled.
The water heaters to my bathroom and Zoe's were connected, so whenever she used the hot water, I had none. This happened quite often.
I got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around myself before going back into my room. I grabbed some clothes and changed into skinny jeans and a long sleeved shirt. It was a sweater paws kind of day.
I finished getting ready before grabbing my bag and heading downstairs. Zoe was at the table, her fingers flying across her phone screen. Her acrylic nails clicked with every tap. Her blonde hair was perfectly curled, and her cream colored shirt matched her Uggs.
"Thanks for using all the hot water. I was so not in the mood to take a shower," I said sarcastically.
"And I was in the mood yesterday to get help for my project but that didn't happen. So, you're welcome," she retorted.
I grabbed an apple and threw it at her head, hitting my mark. Years of dodging things from Michael and the others not only given me good reflexes but also incredible aim.
She put her hand on her forehead, her mouth open in shock. She looked like she was going to cry, but I knew she wouldn't. Didn't want to mess up the makeup.
"Ow! Mum!" She yelled and ran upstairs.
I rolled my eyes and went to put my shoes on. Zoe stomped back down the stairs with Mum behind her.
"Samantha, do you have anything to say to your sister?" Mum asked.
I froze with my shoe half on, craning my head to look at my mother. I probably looked like a little kid that got caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar.
No one called me by my full name, ever. They only used it when it was something serious.
I slowly stood up and looked at her. Her lips were in a tight frown and one hand was on her hip.
"No. Should I?" I asked.
"Yes. You threw an apple at your sister's head. There's already a bump!" Mum said.
"If anything, she should be apologizing. She used up all the hot water and she insulted my friends."
"Don't get snippy with me. If you wanted hot water, you should've gotten in earlier."
Why was she taking Zoe's side? She always backed me up, even when I was wrong. She didn't like when people looked down on me or chastised me, unless it was her of course.
"Whatever. I'm not apologizing to that devil," I said and walked out.
The front door opened, and my name was being called, but I kept on walking. I didn't want to be around my mum or Zoe. I'd probably get yelled at for it later.
I walked for a few minutes before Ashton's car pulled up beside me. He rolled down the window and squinted to look at me. I brought my hand down to shield his eyes from the sun.
"Hey, Sam. Let me give you a ride," he said, and I hopped in. "How's your day so far?"
"Oh, let me tell you."
Luke's POV
Ashton pulled into the school parking lot. Sam and him walked up to the front where I stood waiting for them. She took one look at me and threw her arms around me. I held her as light sobs escaped her mouth.
"Shh. Don't cry. It's okay," I said, rubbing circles on her back to comfort her.
"I want my dad," she mumbled.
My eyes widened, and I looked at Ashton to see he did the same.
Sam's dad had to do a lot of traveling for work. He was usually gone for a month or two before he came home for a few weeks and left again. She'd gotten used to it, so it didn't usually bother her. It occasionally upset her, but she didn't cry. She only got like this when she needed him.
"What happened, Sammy?" I asked.
"M-Mum and Zoe," she answered. She told me about the events that occurred this morning. I held her tighter. "She always takes my side. Why didn't she this time? Dad would if he was here."
"Well, they're both bitches. Ignore them. You'll be okay," I said and walked her inside.
Sam's POV
Science was the worst class. Not only did it confuse me, but I couldn't even complain about it to Michael or Calum. They made this class fun. Michael wouldn't pay attention and would mess around. He would tell jokes to make us laugh, and Calum would join him.
I would go through my classes without any friends except for the ones I had with Ashton and Luke. Ashton was in a few of my classes but not many since he was a year older. Luke was only in my gym class.
This was going to be a hell of a ride.

It was my last period, and all of my teachers had gotten the message that Michael and Calum would no longer be going to school.
Except this one.
"Michael?" Mr. Hanson called out making sure everyone was here.
"Michael?" He asked again when he didn't get an answer. "Michael Clifford?"
"He's not here!" I said loudly. "Obviously if he doesn't answer you, then he's not here!"
Everyone turned around and looked at me. I usually didn't talk during class and I definitely didn't yell at the teacher. My outburst was unnecessary, but I was so angry and upset with everything that had happened today.
Mr. Hanson looked up and set aside the papers he was holding.
"Ms. Evans, if you are going to yell across the room, I am going to ask you to leave," he said.
"I wouldn't have to yell if you weren't so oblivious," I mumbled.
A few kids snickered. He clenched his jaw and adjusted his glasses to seem more intimidating.
"Go take a walk to calm yourself. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior," he said.
I got up and walked out without a word. I walked along the row of lockers before I found Michael's. There was no lock, and it was empty.
I slammed my fist into the metal. I hit it again and again, punching harder every time.
"Fuck!" I yelled, leaning my body against it.
I was mad.
I was mad at my mother for taking Zoe's side.
I was mad at Zoe for being a total bitch and a horrible sister.
I was mad at Michael and Calum for dropping out, leaving me here without my best friends.
Today fucking sucked.
