Chapter 21
Annaleise's POV
I woke up to a bright light and a massive headache. It felt like a friggin hammer was being hit at my head by a champion boxer... that makes no sense. But yeah, it hurts heaps. I kept my eyes closed at focused on my surroundings. There were whispers in the background. It sounded like my dad, the twins and Harry maybe? and Grandpa, I stretched, or should I say, tried to stretch under the tight duvet, and groaned quietly before pulling my body up out of the covers and placed my back against the bed's headframe. I blinked my eyes slowly before opening them fully. The scene before me was Harry, Hermione, Ron, Fred and George, dad and Grandpa. Even Auntie Minerva was standing in the doorframe, looking at the group from a distance and frowning. She was the first one to notice I was awake, and slowly walked over to me, with a small smile on her face. I returned the smile happily. "Hello Auntie," I greeted her quietly from my bed, watching her crouch down, carefully so not creasing her robes. "Hello Annaleise, feeling better?" she whispered just as quietly, glancing at the group before returning her gaze onto me. I wonder what the others are talking about?
"Much," I replied, the full effect of what happening suddenly gaining on me, "What exactly has happened to me... all I remember is the.. err.. jump" I whispered the last word so quietly I could barely hear myself talk, unfortunately, she heard. "Yes, that little stunt... " She said cooly, yet, angrily... here it comes I guess... "Do you know how much you frightened everyone? I'll leave the punishment up to your... father... though. It was completely reckless and irresponsible. Why would you want to do that to yourself Annaleise?" I looked down, biting back a retort. I don't want to make enemies with my friggin Aunt... that would mean disaster. "Sorry, it just seemed right at the time" I whispered, feeling the corner of my eyes prick. "Yes.. well.. I have to go settle the Gryffindors, they're in an uproar. I will see you later." She said, and stood up. I watched her robe brush the floor as she walked out, and her tied-back greying hair turn the corner, and disappear. If that was her.. what will the others be like? I glanced at the group again nervously.
Hermione must have noticed me watching them and gasped. Uh oh. She sprinted over to me and engulfed me into a massive bear hug. I wrapped my arms around her. I felt cool tears drip onto my back and smiled. Well, I guess she missed me. I hugged her tighter, burying my face into her bushy hair. My eyes pricked again as I heard small sobs come out of her mouth. "Shh.. I'm alright Mione" I assured her. She suddenly pulled out of our hug, glaring fiercly at me, her hands curled into fists by her sides with eyes like fire. Here it comes. "You. Nearly, Died. You. Moron. And all you can say is I'm. Alright." She spat at me. I rolled my eyes at her. "Yeah, but I didn't die, did I?" I said in response, causing nearly everyone in the room to walk angrily towards me, except Grandpa and dad, who hung back. I shrunk back, with a nervous grin on my face, my eyes darting from one person to the next. This is gunna be a loooonnnggg morning.
"Um.. hey guys!" I said nervously. They all glanced at each other, then back at Snape, who glared at all of them before turning away. "Err... hey Miss. President!" George said to me, as if trying to change the non-existent subject. "What?" I asked, confused. President? Who's the president? Fred and George suddenly grinned at me mischieviously. Oh boy. "What the hell has happened? Who's the president?" I questioned again. Before they said anything, Harry asked me "Do you remember anything other than the... jump?", hesitating on the last word. I tried to think back. Rushing wind, morning sky, Draco Malfoy... strange. "Nope!" I said, popping the P as usual. "Nothing?" He said, his green eyes alight with confusion. "Nothing" I confirmed with a slight nod of my head. "Cool!" Two voices chimed by my side. With a flash of ginger hair, Fred pulled out a video camera from his pocket and grinned at it as if it was a prized treasure of his. "What have you recorded? WAIT! Did you prank anyone while I was out and recorded it?" I said, grinning. "Oh, this person we didn't prank, she just... said all we needed." Fred replied happily. "Ohh... kay?" I said in reply, turning away. I don't really want to know, it's probably them filming Hermione sleep talking or something. Or Luna Lovegood talking nonsense as usual. We chatted for a while, until I asked the one question I was remotely curious about that the haven't asked yet.
"So, are you guys not bringing up the subject of me nearly joining Ghost-World because...?" I said, slightly confused. They would have asked by now. They glanced at each other before saying at once, "Snape". Ahh, so he's the devil behind the madness, or in this case, help behind the nosy kids. "Okiedokie!" I said, grinning. "Soo... wassup guys? Something must have happened while I've been out" They all shook their heads, small smiles appearing on Ron's and Harry's faces, a watery one on Hermione's face, and big grins on the twins faces. "Nothing?!" I said, amazed. They shook their heads again. God, nothing remotely interesting happens in this school. A awkward silence settled between us. Suddenly a loud 'BANG' and a "Peeves! Get out of my hospital wing!" echoed around the room. I burst out laughing when he suddenly popped up beside me. Good old Peeves. Always finding ways to annoy people to their graves!
"Hey Peeves! Been up to much?" I questioned him, my voice giving away the fact that I was biting back laughter. He grinned widely at me and winked, before starting to say, "Well, I guess I gave the second years quite a fright. I was-" He was interrupt by Madam Pomfrey bustling into the room, brandishing her wand like a mad woman and yelling "Out! Out!". I smirked at him, and he rolled his eyes in response before letting out an evil cackle and saying "Off to Ms. Norris I gooo, waving this... STICK! to and froooo!" He sang off-key, picking up the walking stick nearest my white bed and swinging it around in circles. A burst of orange light came from Madam Pomfreys wand and Peeves yelled "BYE!" before zooming out of the door. I'm never gunna get bored of him.
When Peeves left the room I sighed. I'm gunna get so bored on my own. I looked around the all-white room. Urgh. I'm gunna die of White-Itious. I looked down at my lap and gasped in shock at what I saw. Hyperventalating, I pointed at my left hand repeatedly. I couldn't think clearly. Rainbow. All I saw was rainbow colours. Spread in delicate lines all OVER MY HAND! What am I going to do? What's happened!?!
Grandpa and Snape suddenly turned and started walking over to me. I couldn't see clearly. Blurred shapes. I felt a warm hand on my shoulder but I shrugged it off, I quickly hopped off of the bed and found my feet, it was as if the jump never happend. Thank god for magic. I pulled out of the hands that were trying to yank me back into that wretched bed and sprinted. I sprinted as if my life depended on it. I heard footsteps falling behind me. Yeah, I can be pretty speedy when I want to be. I ran and ran. I didn't know where, but I still ran. Tears blurred my sight and I was starting to lose my breath. I saw a lot of green ahead so I ran to it. I was outside. I could feel the wind biting at my cheeks. I ran until I was on the top of that hill I had seen and sank onto my knees, staring at the now rainbow and even-more spread tattoo. I knew what this mean't. I had read about this mark in the library with Hermione just after I had gotten the first tattoo. The first tattoo was just a test, a mark that showed as it was judging your abilities. Certinately not perminant. This mark however, It mean't that my fate had been decided. There was no going back now.
I was one of them.
I was a James.
For Forever And Eternity.
