Chapter 22
Annaleise's POV
I felt a water droplet fall on my head as I lay on the hill watching the storm clouds roll in. I got to my feet and brushed off the grass on my back. I groaned as I saw grass-stains on my robes, and started walking back towards the castle. I must have ran a long way, because it looks like I have to walk miles. Urgh. Hold up... what's that spell Professor Flitwick mentioned in his lecture? Accio! Yes! I quickly pulled out my white, jeweled wand and said "Accio Broom!' and stood still... feeling like an idiot.
After about 30 seconds I decided to carry on walking, seeming that the spell hadn't worked. Now, what's a good place to learn more about my stupid tattoo? Grandpa's office? Nah, too complicated. The library? Bingo! Just then I saw a small speck in the sky, zooming towards me at an incredible speed. As it grew closer and closer, I recognised it to be my beloved broomstick. It worked! As my broom grew closer to me, I decided on the quickest route to the library without being seen... I shouldn't have run out like that. It wasn't very 'mature' of me. Oh well.. can't change the past. I reached up into the air and pulled my broom down towards me, a few more raindrops fell on my head. I might as well make the most of my moment of peace before heading to the library.
I flew higher in the air, my butt at risk of sliding off the end of my Nimbus. I clutched at the smooth wood and went higher.. and higher.. and higher. The air whipped my hair and nipped at my skin. I smiled. I steadied my broom in the middle of a cloud, and carefully drifted along with the cloud. I looked through the fine white mist, and watched Hogwarts. It was so peaceful up here, as if nothing and nobody could ever harm me. I should so make a house up here and call it my home. Pfft, thats so gunna happen soon. A gust of wind blew my hair in my face, and I spat the hair back out of my mouth in disgust, when was the last time I'd washed this? Revolting. Then I noticed the colour. Black, a shiny shade of black that looked almost a extremely dark purple. It was truely gorgeous. I lifted a hand from my broom and scooped up a hand full of my long hair, it was dead straight until the end, where it curled delicately. Another gust of wind blew my hair back into my face, and I shook my whole head to get the hairs out of my face.
I looked through the mist, squinting my eyes to see if I was still alone, and when I noted that the sky was empty, apart from me, I decided to mess around. I gripped my broom with so much force that my knuckles turned white. More raindrops fell on my body and broom, coming faster and faster. I smiled and lifted my face to the rain, cool water droplets fell on my face, and it was relaxing, I'll have to admit. Then I decided something. And that something changed my life forever.
I've never been afraid of the heightest heights. I've never been afraid of flying. Never been afraid of the wildest fights. Not even dying. Why am I scared now, of a sudden change. People have horrible lives now, being abused, raped, kidnapped, murdered, tortured, starved, and even slowly dying. Why should I pity myself now? I shouldn't. It doesn't matter that the Dark Lord is my dad. He is only... I don't know, a sperm donor? Wow, I know things an 11 year old should not know...
From now on I will think of the other billions or something people in the world, and their lives. How people suffer more than me, I should be grateful that I don't have a serious disease, like that serious muggle thing, cancer. Cancer, which is slowly killing my nanny's husband. Oh, your probably wondering what I'm rambling about, huh? Well, me and Snape have a crap relationship. No duh. Anyway, we were always down eachothers throats about the littlest things, like whether or not I made my bed, or if I got paint on the walls. Back to the story, Snape got me a Nanny, because he was always going out, leaving me at home, to this day I still wonder where he goes. He hired the oldest muggle person he could find, thinking she would be strict, and she scared me a little at first.. she looked like a typical 'If-your-not-good-I'll-beat-you' person, but as I got to know her, she turned out to be the mother I never had. She was so kind! I kind of miss her now. I hope her husband's okay.
