The Sky's Asleep, So You're Asleep

Zayn: 8 years old

Niall: 9 years old

"Okay but last night's episode was probably the best one yet! I mean did you see how fast the Black ranger was going?!" Danny exclaimed at their lunch table that Tuesday afternoon.

"I think last week's episode was better, there was more fighting," Shahid argued and Ant nodded his head in agreement.

"Yeah, plus last week the villain was cooler! Last night's was so stupid, like the Rangers could beat an abominable snowman so easily," Ant pointed out to which Danny glared at his brother because he's suppose to pick his side.

"What about you Zayn? Which episode do you think was better?" Danny asks his best friend, hoping at least he'd side with him, however, Zayn just shrugged.

"Don't know, I haven't seen last night's episode yet," Zayn said. "Niall said it was good though."

"How come Niall saw it but you didn't?" Shahid asked.

"Cause I was asleep," the boy said simply, however, his friends didn't think it was that simple.

"But the episode was at 8:00?! Why were you already asleep?" Ant asks this time, and slowly Zayn began to become a bit more self conscious.

"B-because that's my bedtime, I watch the episodes on Tuesday," the boy explains, however, he wasn't expecting his friends to break out in laughter. "What? What's so funny?"

"Your bedtime is 8:00? Zayn, babies go to sleep at 8:00! My bedtime isn't till 8:45," Danny says while giggling, Ant nodding his head along with the boy.

"Yeah and mine's not till 9:00! Guess we didn't realize you're still too little to go to sleep that late," Shahid teased, but Zayn took a bit more literal than intended.

"My bed time's late on the weekends though. My uncles want me to be awake during school," Zayn tried to argue upon deaf ears.

"You have a bedtime on the weekend, too?! Oh god, this keeps getting better!" Ant laughs, and finally Zayn's had enough of their teasing and quickly gets up from the table and walks off towards their next class.

He was not gonna talk to them for the rest of the day.

Well, actually he didn't make that decision...they did. As Zayn sat in his next class waiting for the teacher to begin talking, he saw his three friends enter the room, however, rather than sitting beside him they sat on the end of the room. Zayn would be lying if he said it didn't bother him, however, he didn't do anything about it and rather kept to himself for the remainder of the day.

Once school ended Zayn made his way out to where Liam was waiting outside of his car with Niall and Louis animatedly talking to their father. Upon seeing the young boy lugging his bags over to the car, he had to bring his hockey gear to school because he knew Harry wasn't picking him up, Liam excused himself from the boys to go help his youngest one.

"Hi, bubba, good day of school?" Liam cooed as he easily lifted the bag as well as the boy, however, rather than replying Zayn just shrugged his shoulders while laying his head down onto Liam's shoulder. "Someone seems tired, why don't you take a nap before we get you to the arena for practice?"

And once again Zayn just shrugs which causes Liam to frown only slightly while placing a kiss to his temple. From there he situates Zayn into the car while also helping Niall and Liam before driving off to the football field not too far from the school where Niall and Liam had practice.
