Summer was always a busy time for the Payne's. Niall partakes in the Arsenal football summer camp for the entire summer‒which requires him to be dropped off at 8:00 AM and picked up at 5:00 PM four days a week. And Louis continues to play on his traveling football league that practices every day and has tournaments every other weekend. So with both boys having a pretty tight knit schedule, it was no surprise that Harry and Liam would occasionally stress themselves out a bit. So much that they even sometimes seemed to forget how much Zayn looked up to them all.
In the young boy's head he perfectly understood why he was sometimes the one left out. The answer to him was simple really. He wasn't Uncle Harry or Liam's son...he was their nephew. Simple as that. And because of that he came to the conclusion that it's okay to be left out sometimes because he knew his cousins deserved their father's attention more than he deserved the attention of his uncles.
At the moment Zayn was inside the building of their town's local youth center, also known as the place where Louis' football league practices. Because of Louis practicing there everyday for quite a while, Liam and Harry decided to sign Zayn up for the little summer camp program they offer.
And it's not that Zayn doesn't like the program per say, it's just something he'd prefer not to go to. He didn't like how they were constantly making them change activities, or how they only had like twenty minutes to do arts and crafts. And he especially didn't like how because he was only five, and the youngest at the camp, he was constantly babies by counselors and required to have a nap time. He was hoping to be rid of nap times for the summer.
If the boy had the choice he would ask his uncles to sign him up for the art camp, which he knows is a thing because the only reason he's only allowed twenty minutes for arts and crafts time is because that is the length of the art camp's nature walk. However, Zayn didn't want to bother his uncles by asking them to sign him up for that one instead which is why he is currently sat in the corner of the pick up room waiting for his Uncle Harry to get him that evening.
"Zayn, you're uncle's here," the head counselor says as the boy gets up from his spot only to then realize he was the only child left in the room.
"I'm so sorry I'm late. I was talking to this one's coach about a last minute scrimmage game they booked for tomorrow and he was asking if I could make food for the teams," Harry explained as he signed the paper to release Zayn.
"It's not a problem, Zayn was being a perfect little angel," the counselor said as she crouched down to Zayn. "Did you have fun today, buddy?"
"Yeah, thank you," Zayn mumbles while grabbing his uncle's awaiting hand.
"What would you like to do tomorrow? What was the most fun thing we did?" The woman asks again and Zayn immediately replies this time.
"Arts time! More time for art, please," Zayn said with a smile and the counselor just cooed before rubbing the boy's head and walking away.
With that being done Harry begins to start guiding Zayn out. So with the little boy holding on his left hand and Louis perched on his right hip‒he had exhausted himself during football‒ Harry leads the three out to the car where they then make their way to pick up Niall.
Picking up the blonde boy goes by fast and to the surprise of Harry, Niall is full of energy upon getting into the car. So much that he doesn't shut up for the whole car ride, not even allowing Zayn time to make a comment on one of his stories. And by the time they're arriving home Louis is now also awake which only leads him to replace Niall's place in talking. So now both Niall and Louis are trying to talk over one another while Zayn attempts to throw in a word every now and then to little success.
