I awoke from the small warmth of the sun peaking from the acropolis.
" Lady Helena, your mother asks for your presence at the table now" said the slave.
" Thank you, Bory. May you please ask her to wait for me to dress?"
Bory shuffled out the door and I got out of bed. I pulled on my plain clothes. A blue tunic that goes down to my ankles. I pulled my hair back and braided into one side and wore leather sandals. I took my traveling items and valuable possessions with me in a small satchel. I threw in two tunics, one sandal, the jewels, and all the other necessities. I walked out to see my mother's face stained with tears. I rushed down kneeling to her side. Alastor walked in and stood beside her. Her trunks had disappeared and all were left were my trunks.
" Mother, what is going on?" I asked.
My mother cried.
Alastor put his arm around her and whispered something in her ears. My mother nodded and he talked.
" Your father wants YOU in Egypt. Your parents knew that you would never leave if it meant leaving your mother so they decided to tell you that in the morning of your departure".
Soldiers popped out and circled me.
" Helena, this is dangerous. Whatever your father wants you to do, don't do it! It's a trap!" she yelled.
I quickly went through the satchel and gave her Alexyrd's gift.
" To protect you" I said.
I gave her a kiss and a hug and I was dragged to the carriage like a prisoner. Alastor joined me inside. I avoided his gaze by looking out the window waiting for this to be over.
" It will not be forever. You won't see her for just a couple of years. Eventually, your father will move her to Egypt ".
He tried comforting me with hugs and encouragements but I knew where this was heading.
" Who is he?" I asked
" Who is who?"
" My husband"
Alastor sighed and looked out.
" I don't know" he said.
I slumped back on the chairs and crossed my arms.
" I really don't know!" he said.
I got a glimpse of him. He looked very distressed about this.
" Stop!"
The ground started shaking. We were already at the port.
The waves drew back pulling our boat closer to the port. Immense water gushed in and high waves flowed in.
" Alastor, what is happening?" I asked.
" Earthquake. Perhaps a big one. It would explain the waves."
I looked at the gray skies. The lighthouse fire went out and cries could be heard for miles. We boarded the small reed boat. This was different. A loud shrill echoed. Alastor looked at me. My mother!
" I will get her. I owe her this". He was about to jump off. I held on to his arm.
" No. You cannot. I can't let you risk your life for her ". I started crying. He gave me one last hug and jumped off the side of the boat and I prepared myself to jump over when a crew member grabbed on to me.
" The waters are too dangerous. I doubt you could swim to shore with these waves" he said screaming over the crashing waves. I held on to the railings waiting for Alastor to return or to even see him. The dark mist from the sea made sight impossible. The captain of the boat steered us even further away from Atlantis. I sat down on the floor of the boat consumed with boredom and fear.
Weeks passed and I was left wondering about my fate. I looked away into the sea to find the sun peaking out of the mountains. Wait, not mountains. Pyramids! The boat smoothly sailed into the port. I stepped out gracefully putting my hair up. My tunic was stained by water and specks of mud but compared to the nearby people, I seemed to be the best dressed.
" Lady Helena of Atlantis! We welcome you to Egypt ".
