I looked at my list. I was to work here in the library as a librarian. I took the books and put them down on to a nearby shelf. My dress got stuck between the books and I pulled it out leading the books to fall onto the cold marble floor. Neah came in bringing a cup of water.

" Lady Helena, I suggest you take a break. Your father will manage with a few books out of place" she said.

" This is the one job I have here and I would like to do it right".

I put the books into a stack and a sip of the water. It was very refreshing from the entire morning spent to organize the library while my father was out in the city watching the parade.

" I saw the parade on my way here. The Pharaoh and his queen sat on the chairs that was carried throughout the city and your father walked beside them carrying that enormous book of his".

I gestured her to sit but she refused.

" I have to return shortly. All the maids shall be brought to the palace to do chores" said Neah. " I will find you later when it is finished".

She left and I was left to hear the squeaking of the mice. I pulled down a book from a high shelf almost falling in the process. I threw on to the table and read the title.

Atlantis

I sat down on a nearby chair and started reading it. I was so intrigued in the writer's view of Atlantis. Every inch of city was descriptively described with accuracy. I laughed at the little notes left behind and when I finished it was already the evening. I looked around the book looking for the author. I turned to the last page to find my father's name written in Greek at the back. Boom. I dropped the book and went out the door. The library was near the Villa so I stepped out to find everyone rushing to the palace doors. An old lady hobbled by.

" What has happened?" I asked.

" The Pharaoh's adviser has been wounded and so was one of the bearers".

I ran to the doors in hopes that the odds of the adviser being my father were not true. Unfortunately it was.

People gathered around my father as he was laid on to the marble floor. Blood spread on the floor and the frantic noises of the nurses attending him frightened me. I stood in front of the pillars and tried looking for the Pharaoh. He is mostly likely hiding until this blows over. Soon the people left and my father was left laying on a cot bed. The nurses put on damp towels on his forehead while the men near by continued readjusting his body. They all bowed at the sight of me.

" What happened?" I asked. One of the men pulled me to a side and looked both ways.

" Your father seemed to be the target of the assassination attempt. One of the carriers walked beside him and out of no where in arrow shot the bearer's stomach and you father's kidneys. Your father is resting for now, but he has lost a lot of blood on the way here. The nurses do not know how to treat it for fear it could damage the kidneys".

" Then why the secrecy. It was an assassination attempt that went wrong".

He looked at me probably thinking about how stupid I am which was what I felt at that moment.

" The assassination was towards your father not the Pharaoh. Don't you think that is a bit curious?" he said. I nodded and walked away to the Villa. Everyone had already eaten but I was not hungry from today's excitement. The man had a good point. Why was the assassination towards my father and not the Pharaoh? Endless ideas came rushing into my head and gave me a headache. On my way to my house, Antonius caught up with me.
