Apparently all Thresh needed me for was to point out where my pack's den was. Of course, I refused to give out anything. I was also sad that that was all he wanted me for, information not love like a normal mate.

Then again, my mate was a killer. What do you expect from that?

I know I shouldn't dwell on this but I couldn't help it. Thresh is planning to attack my pack. I couldn't stand by and let this happen! It's time to act.

I stood from my place on the bed and stormed out, down the stairs, then out of the house. I could smell Thresh's scent leading into the forest and followed. It was fresh so he didn't leave too long ago. Still I phased into my wolf and took off.

I was surprised no one saw me leaving, but guessed they had better things to do than guard me. Probably figured I wouldn't try anything. Plus, I haven't seen Ronan since Thresh left which was two hours ago. Maybe had to take care of the pack while Thresh was gone. Either way, sneaking out was a piece of cake.

I ran about a mile in until Thresh's scent veered off in another direction. Strange. I followed the scent.

Until I was tackled to the ground by someone. I growled and kicked them off of me and stood in a fighting stance.

It was Thresh.

I relaxed somewhat. His black wolf was enormous compared to me. He was a whole head taller than me. His thick, lush black fur was magnificent in the sunlight.

"Why are you out here?" He growled.

"I'm not going to stand by and watch as you plan on killing my pack!" I growled and got back into stance. "Mate or not."

He too got into stance. "You think you can defeat me?" He laughed. "You could barely beat my subordinates."

"Maybe I won't be able to beat you, but maybe I can knock some sense in that thick fur of yours."

With that, I pounced with my claws and canines ready to strike. He moved aside, but anticipated that and quickly jumped onto his back. With all of my strength, I bit down into his neck.

Thresh roared and turned his head to bite me on my already injured arm. It healed somewhat, but still stung a bit.

Like a rag doll, he threw me off of him and I slammed into a tree. I yelped at the pain in my back as Thresh growled at me. "Submit yet?"

I growled at him and stood slowly. I shook my body, then got into stance again. Thresh seemed surprised, but then hid it. "You don't know when to give up, do you?"

"Yeah, I have a problem with that."

This time, Thresh was the one who stroke first, but I had an idea and started running. I heard Thresh's paws behind me as I ran through the trees.

As I ran, I couldn't help but smile on the inside. Finally, someone was going to show him who's boss, and that someone would be me.

After running for about 4 miles, I could hear Thresh's steps starting to fade behind me and his breathing became heavier. While I on the other hand, wasn't even close to being winded. While Thresh had strength, I had speed.

After another 2 miles, Thresh was beginning to feel exhausted. I decided it was time to stop and fight again. That was my plan, run in order to weaken him, then fight. Like my father always said, fight not with your muscles, but with your mind.

I turned and waited for Thresh to catch up. When he did, I roared and tackled him to the ground. He tried to get up, but was too tired from all of that running to do so. I bit down on his snout and growled to make him stop squirming. It worked and I let go and beamed proudly at my work.

"Submit yet?" I mocked.

Thresh growled. I moved off of him and sat down with a smug look on my face. Thresh stood, panting heavily. "How-are you-not-tired?" He asked between pants.

I chuckled. "I'm just a born runner, what can I say."

"Whatever." Thresh seemed to be able to catch his breath and sat down across from me. "You can't expect me to just call off my plans just because of this. And this does not prove anything!"

I rolled my eyes. "Like I said, I just needed to prove a point. You can't just push people around because you're the Alpha or because you're stronger than them. If you were really a strong Alpha, then you wouldn't be such a bully. That just shows how weak you are."

I paused to let me word sink into Thresh. He shook his head at me. "You're wrong. Only ones who show their strength prevail. The weak perish."

I knew I wouldn't be able to make my point with him right now, so I just sighed. "You'll see." I stood to walk away, but paused and turned back to him. "Oh and by the way, know that you just got beaten by a girl just now."

Before anything could be said or done, I ran back towards the den. As I ran, I heard an aggravated growl and laughed inside.
