Shiva's POV

My parents, Beta Kyle, and the other high pack members and I were standing around the living room. We were trying to figure out who is behind this.

"The problem is that whoever is behind this is in the Southern Territories." Kyle said. "And the only pack that we know of there is the Blood Diamond."

"Exactly." Our best tracker, Nathan, said. "Why are we ruling them out? They could be the ones behind this."

I narrowed my eyes. "Listen I know you don't trust them, but I know that Thresh would never kill one of his own. Despite what you think, he's not a monster."

Kyle huffed a laugh. "I find that hard to believe."

I growled slightly. "We can trust Thresh."

My mom stepped forward. "Leave Shiva alone. I trust her, and if she says that she trusts Thresh, then I trust him too."

I smiled at her. "Thanks mom."

"I need proof that we can trust him first." Kyle said.

"I agree." My dad stepped forward. "I'm sorry sweetheart, but I need to know that we can trust him."

"Fine." I started for the door. "We'll go to over there. He said he was going to investigate where Gavin was murdered. If he's really there, then we can trust him."

I opened the door to walk out-

"RAAWWW!!"

I gasped when I saw the giant wolf standing at the door. It was dark brown and he was dirty all over. There were some old scars on his face and he was growling viciously.

I felt a pair of hands grab my shoulders and pull me away from him. It was Nathan. The rest of them got into their fighting stances and shifted, but the newcomer only chuckled.

"This should be fun."

Mom growled. "Who are you?!"

"Oh don't you worry about that. Actually if I were you, I'd be more worried about what I want."

"Then what do you want?!"

His gaze shifted to me. "Her."

"Shiva! Run!"

I did what my father told me to do and ran upstairs. I heard the grunts and snarls as I left, stuff being broken beyond repair.

Suddenly, the window at the end of the hall was shattered by another wolf. He had reddish fur and the most disgusting strings of saliva running down his mouth.

I shifted into my wolf and growled at him. The wolf chuckled. "Aw, gonna fight your way out princess?"

I narrowed my eyes. "If that's what it takes."

He grinned and pounced. I jumped as well and managed to tackle him out the window. He skidded a few feet. When he got up, he wasn't exactly happy.

"You'll pay for that little bitch!"

Then he pounced again, and this time he was fast. I tried to move out if the way but he was still able to tackle me to the ground. Okay, this guy was pissed.

I tried to get him off of me, but he skillfully dodged my attacks and bit my neck.

I couldn't think of anything else to do, so I howled. The thing Thresh told me to do if I was ever in trouble, howl for him. The howl echoed throughout the land.

The wolf on top of me bit down harder to shut me up. I whined as the pain intensified.

Suddenly, his weight was off of me. I turned to see one of our warriors, Xavier, was growling at the wolf as he stood in front of me. "Run!"

I did just that and ran around the house. Then froze in place when I saw that our main field turned into a battle ground. Our warriors were fighting that other pack. They were having a difficult time since the other pack was far bigger than ours.

"Shiva!"

I turned to my left to see both Eva and Cassie in their wolf forms behind a house. I quickly ran over to them. "You guys okay?" I asked.

Cassie's eyes widened. "Shiva! Your neck!"

I felt my blood dripping from the wound. It stung and I felt slightly dizzy, but shook it off. "I'm fine guys, but we need to get outta here."

"There are still some pups in that house over there." Eva pointed across the battle ground to the small house.

"Let's go then!"

"What?!" Cassie screamed. "We can't!"

"Cassie, we have to! If we don't those pups will die!"

Cassie hesitated then growled out. "Fine."

I led them around the battle field. We were trying to not draw any attention to ourselves. We made it to the house and inside were the four of the kids huddled in a corner. When they saw us, they stood and quickly ran over.

"What are we gonna do?"

"Don't worry, Timothy. We're getting you guys outta here."

We laid down to let the kids get on our backs. I had two of them on me. Eva and Cassie were carrying the other two.

Without even thinking, the three of us ran into the forest. We had to get away from the carnage.

"AH!"

Eva and I stopped and turned back to see Cassie under a wolf. The kid she was carrying was trying to scramble away. The giant wolf opened his mouth, about to chop down and snap Cassie's neck in two.

"LEAVE HER!!"

I turned towards the voice that said that. Then I gasped.

Ronan ran and tackled the wolf on Cassie down and threw him against a tree. Ronan stood protectively over Cassie as she struggled to stand. The kid that she was carrying ran back to her. Ronan growled as the wolf stood with some struggle.

"Should've known you would be coming soon." The wolf said. "But that doesn't matter. We'll win this fight."

"Do you ever shut up?" Ronan snapped back before he pounced on the filthy wolf.

As he fought, Eva and I ran to Cassie. "You okay, Cas?" Eva asked.

"I got hit in my arm. It really hurts."

I took a closer look and sure enough, it was dislocated at the elbow. Suddenly, Ronan appeared. His mouth had some blood on it, but I tried not to pay attention.

"You're hurt." He said to Cassie.

"I'll be fine. We should keep moving."

"No chance. Shift back."

Cassie's eyes widened. "What?"

"I'll carry you the rest of the way, just shift."

Cassie knew she wouldn't win this, so she complied. When Cassie shifted, she winced and held onto her arm. Ronan laid down to let her got on his back and he led us away once she was secure.

"Where's Thresh?" I asked him.

"There's no time. Keep moving."

I growled. "Where is my mate?"

Ronan hesitated before answering. "Helping your father. But trust me Luna, you don't want to go to him right now."

I wanted to though, but deep down, I knew Ronan was right.

"Where are we going?" Eva asked.

Ronan looked ahead. "Home."
