I paced back and forth in front of the pack house. The sun was now high in the sky, and there was still no sign of Thresh, my parents or any of the pack members. Saying that I was worried would be an understatement, I was full on freaking out!

"They'll be here soon." I turned to see Eva smirking at me. "You better stop pacing before you make a hole."

I rolled my eyes playfully. "I know. I just wish that they would be here already. What if something happened? What if they need our help?"

"Hey, they know how to fight. And with the Blood Diamond's help, they'll win. You know that."

I sighed. "Yeah you're right."

Ronan's POV

I placed bowls of cereal in front of the kids. They all said thank you and dug right in. I smiled and walked to a cabinet, grabbing some medical wraps, and walked over to Cassie who sat on the couch.

She was looking around the pack house in awe. "This place is huge." I sat down next to her and gently cradled her injured arm. She winced slightly. "Ow."

"Sorry."

"No, it's fine."

I already pushed the socket back into it's place, but because Cassie is young and only recently got her wolf, the healing takes a bit longer than usual. That's what the wraps are for.

"Alright." I started. "I'm just gonna bind your elbow. It'll keep everything in it's place."

Cassie nodded and I started to wrap. A silence fell over us, I could tell that Cassie was a very shy girl and smirked at that. "Name's Cassie, right?" I asked to get a conversation going.

"Uh, yeah. That's me. And you are..."

"Ronan. I'm the Beta of this pack. Luna Shiva would talk about you a lot."

"She would."

I tied the wrap into a knot. "Yeah. Says you were quote, 'An absolute sweetheart'."

Cassie blushed at the compliment. "I-I-" I chuckled which caught her attention. She gave me a confused look. "What?"

I shook my head. "Nothing just... you."

That got her even more confused. "What do you mean?"

I hesitated to answer. "I'll be right back."

And started to walk away.

Coward

I thought to myself. I closed the bathroom door behind me and leaned against the sink. Panting heavily to catch my breath.

"Come on, Ronan. Control yourself. Control yourself." I kept saying to my reflection.

But how could I do that when my mate was in the other room?

How is it possible?! I already had my mate! Key word: had.

I teared up just thinking of her. Josie was her name. Long red hair and green eyes, tiny freckles that dotted her cheeks, and her voice. It was so gentle and soothing.

I growled to myself. Why did this have to happen? Why did the moon goddess do this to me?!

What's worse is that Cassie doesn't even know that I'm her mate. Her wolf is still young. Too young to know what her mate's scent is.

The day that we got to the Bright Crescent's den was when I smelled her. I saw her with Luna Shiva and immediately fell in love. But, she doesn't even know it.

I'm in deep shit.

Shiva's POV

Another hour past, still no sign of anyone. That's the final straw.

"I'm going after them." I stood and walked with determination.

I could hear Ronan come after me. "Luna, I have strict orders from Alpha to keep y-"

"First!" I spun around to face him. "Just call me Shiva! Second, you can't stop me!"

"Listen-"

"No, you listen. My mate is out there fighting with my family against those dogs! You do have any idea what it's like to know that your mate could be in trouble and you aren't able to do anything?!"

Ronan paused for a moment before anger flared in his eyes. "Yes. I do know what it's like."

My eyes widened and now Eva and Cassie was fully paying attention. I didn't know what to say. "R-Ronan... I'm sorry. I-"

He waved it off. "No. It's fine."

"No it's not. I didn't think about you. I'm truly sorry."

He smiled, but I saw pain in his eyes. "Really it's okay."

I nodded, still feeling bad though. Suddenly I caught a scent, Thresh's scent. I smiled and whipped around to see him stepping through the tree line in his human form.

I was about to run to him, until I saw all of the blood on him. He was coated in crimson red. All except his legs. Then I saw the rest of both packs emerging through the woods. But they weren't covered in blood, at least not as much as Thresh.

Thresh walked and sat down, shaking a bit, on one of the logs. He stared down at his hands, coated in the crimson blood that I knew wasn't his. I approached him. He met my eyes. I saw anger, sadness, pain... and regret.

I gave him a sympathetic look and gently ran my hands through his hair, not even caring about the blood. Thresh leaned forward and placed his head against my stomach with his hands on my waist.

"I killed them." He whispered. "I didn't even think twice about it either. I just did it."

"Shhh." I rubbed his head more to calm him.

"I took away their lives. And I think I liked it."

I looked up at Thresh's pack, which is also my pack as well, and mind linked to them. "Give us a minute, please."

They all nodded and either walked to their houses or to the pack hospital. Mom and dad, along with the rest of their pack, looked like they didn't know what to do. Instead of just standing there, they followed the others to the pack hospital as well.

I looked down at Thresh, who was now shaking a bit, like he was holding something in. I shook my head. "It's alright to cry."

That's when he let out a sob. Thresh held me tighter and I wrapped my arms around his head gently, squeezing him back. I didn't move, didn't even think about moving, allowing Thresh to let everything out. All of his pain, his regret, everything.

"Please." He choked out. "Please, don't leave me."

Now that broke me. Thresh was hurting, bad. I kissed his head, regardless of the blood, and whispered back to him.

"I'm not going anywhere."
