A few weeks on and it was suddenly a day before school. That time that I wished never would come. Luca’s mum and dad were saying that if I wasn’t ready to go, then I could stay at theirs for a week longer. But why wait when I can just jump in at the deep end?

I came out of the bathroom, running my fingers through my hair. The dampness of my hair was quite relaxing in a strange way, but hey, I was allowed to do my own thing. Luca, in his tale and straight form, walked out from his room. Bed hair and everything was in order and it just gave him this sexy appeal.

“Good morning gorgeous,” I muttered, scuttling over to him and giving him a hug, enjoying the feel of his naked torso against my oversized t-shirt and shorts. Don’t judge Ok? I just, haven’t had time to get some new stuff for myself.

“Good morning sweetie. Looking forward to tomorrow? I mean, school all over again?” He asked me, holding me at arm’s length, probably to see what my reaction would be. I just kept my face neutral and nodded. I was worried, but in a way I was looking forward to it, I guess.

“I suppose so? What’s there to look forward to? School work and over-confident people who think they’re top dogs. I don’t think so!” I said this all with a small laugh at the end, showing that I was really fine but, maybe deep down, I wasn’t exactly excited. “What about you? Are you looking forward to the joys of school?”

“Sort of, because you’ll be there this time so I won’t get so lonely,” He muttered, pushing my hair back from my face before placing a kiss on my forehead. I leaned into him, just savouring the moment. Tomorrow, he’ll go back to being the popular football kid, whereas I’ll become the outsider. The freak, as I know I’ll get named.

Suddenly, there was a call from downstairs and we both rolled our eyes. His mum was always trying to hurry us up to go down and eat, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. We giggled (well, I giggled and Luca laughed quietly) before trampling down the stairs. We had to make so much noise as we could. Wouldn’t be breakfast if it wasn’t a loud one!

Sappy and Ethan were already downstairs, tucking into what looked like a big English breakfast. I just stared as Luca took a seat down next to Ethan. “Well, this looks fun!” I tried to sound enthusiastic, but it sounded like I was being sarcastic as I took a seat down next to Sappy. It’s just the best way to start of a day before a new day at school. So much fun… Not.

“Sappy! What time will we leave tomorrow?” I questioned, piling up my plate with much needed food to wake my starving body up. I tapped my foot on the ground beneath me, awaiting this girls answer.

“Oh! Sorry, I totally forgot that we could’ve gone together tomorrow. Me and Ethan planned to go on together. I’m really sorry Yvonne! I mean, you still have Luca to go with. I’m sure he won’t mind taking you at all!” She cast a knowing look to Luca and he nodded. “See! All sorted!” She announced, all bubbly and she took Ethans hand in hers before they continued to eat. I felt like I had just suddenly lost my appetite. Joy. Sarcasm.

I ate what I could, before excusing myself from the table. Things have to get better between me and Sappy before it goes completely down the drain. I felt like she was always hiding something from me. But then again, we had been apart for a long time before I got back.

I didn’t mind the silence between me and Sappy, but it does bother me from time to time because we used to be best friends.

I thought back to one time, we met each other in the morning in the playground. It was one of those moments that you never seem to forget, since it was quite eventful. Since Sappy did get hit with a flying football and Luca took more interest in me. Not something I was going to boast about, but I was quite happy with that small incident. But I do remember Sappy having this sour lemon look on her face, before Ethan spoke to her that was.

I sighed as I came back to present, and I found myself leaning on a windowsill, looking out at the front. Beside me, stood no one other than Ethan. Probably the last person I wanted to see, but hey! I can deal with it… I think.
