The Runaway Mate

Chapter 7

I was sitting on the couch scrolling through my phone when somebody came and pulled me off the couch.

"Come on. Let's go dance. Rhett is busy and I know your bored." I looked up to see Lynn. Maggie's daughter.

I laughed,

"Okay."

I got up and she pulled me to the dance floor. We started dancing and it was fun. I just let loose.

We danced for a few songs and then the song Bass Down Low came on. Lynn went to get something to drink but I stayed and danced to this song.

A few seconds after Lynn left I felt somebody come up behind me and grab me by the waist. I didn't have to turn around to know who it was. I could tell by the sparks shooting over my body.

It was Rhett.

We danced through this song and it got a little heated. It soon ended and I was about to walk away to get something to drink so I could cool off but Rhett pulled me back.

"Where are you going?" He asked me as we started to slow dance.

"I was gonna go get something to drink." I told him.

"Let me come with you. I don't want you to be alone." He said as we started to walk away.

"Uhh, I'm very capable of going to get my own drink. Just so you know." I told him while pulling my hand out of his.

He turned around and said,

"I know you are. I just don't trust all these horny unmated wolves. There's no telling what they will do to you."

"You marked me. That's good enough. They can't put their hands on me since you marked me. May I remind you that you did it without my permission." I told him while glaring.

"Look, they know that your marked. But your an unmated she-wolf. You haven't been fully mated yet. Some won't lay a hand on you but others will and I will not have another wolf lay his hands on you." He growled. He turned around and pulled me with him to the kitchen.

When we entered the kitchen I saw Lynn and a group of other wolves talking. She saw me come in and motioned me over.

"I'll be back. I'm gonna go talk to a friend." I told Rhett while walking away.

"Be careful!" He told me. I stuck my thumb in the air so he knew that I heard him.

I walked over to Lynn and she gave me a hug.

"Hey girl! How ya doing?" She asked me.

"I'm fine. Thanks for asking."
I said with a smile.

"Anytime." She said. "Anyways, this is Cammy, short for Cameran, Sammy, Jack, Kaylie, and Carter." She said introducing me to the group.

"Hi!" I smiled and did a small wave.

"Hey!" They said back with a smile. Well they seem nice!

"Cammy is Jacks mate and Kaylie is Carter's mate. And I'm Sammy's mate." She said while hugging Sammy.

I smiled,

"You guys are cute!" I said.

"Not as cute as we are." Rhett whispered in my ear. I smiled and elbowed him.

"Oww! Babe, what was that for?!" He asked as he held his side.

"Oh you know, just for being so darn cute and annoying." I told him.

The others laughed at us.

"You've got a real sweet one Rhett." Sammy said.

"Yea I know." He laughed as he put his arm around my waist. 

"Anyways, what are you doing tomorrow?" Kaylie asked me.

"She's spending the day with me." Rhett said. I looked at him with a look in my eyes that told him to shut up.

I turned back around and said,

"Probably nothing. Just gonna chill around the house. Why?" I asked her.

"Well, we were gonna go shopping tomorrow and then afterwards we were gonna go see a movie. Would you like to come with us?" She asked.

"I would love to!" I told her.

"Okay! Well, I guess we'll see you tomorrow then." She said.

"Yea. See you guys tomorrow!" I said and we walked away.

The party ended soon after that and it was just me, Rhett, and the other members that lived the pack house with us.

I went upstairs and took a quick shower. I got out and put on some sweats with a tank top. I walked out of the bathroom and went to the bed to lay down. 

"Did you have fun tonight?" Rhett asked me.

"Yea. I did. I made some friends tonight and I'm glad because tomorrow we are all gonna hang out." I said as I rolled over to face him.

"Yea I know. I'm glad you had a good time though." He said as he put his arm around me.

I smiled and nodded.

He leaned over and kissed my forehead.

"Anyways, I'm gonna go to sleep. I've got a big day tomorrow and so do you. I'll see you in the morning and if I don't then I'll see you that afternoon because I've got something planned for us to do after you go shopping." He told me and rolled over.

I was curious now.

"What do you have planned for us Rhett? What are we gonna do? Does it involve clowns? If it involves clowns them I'm done. I won't do it." I told him.

"I'm not telling you. It's a surprise. And no, it doesn't involve clowns." He said.

As much as I want to know I was too tired to ask anything else. He answered one important question and I was satisfied with his answer.

It doesn't involve clowns.
