The Runaway Mate

Chapter 9

I wake up to somebody poking my cheek.

"Wake up baby. I've got a fun day planned for the both of us." The person said.

I open my eyes to see Rhett about to poke me again.

"Don't touch me." I said.

"Touch." He said while poking me again.

"I said don't touch me." I told him again. Yet he still didn't listen.

"Touch." He did it again.

"Rhett, I said to stop touching me. Because the next time you do I'm gonna tackle you." I told him getting annoyed.

He didn't touch me. But I could see the amusement in his eyes and I knew what was about to happen.

"Touch." He said slowly as touched me again. That's it. I got up out of bed as fast as I could and tackled him to the floor. It started out as a small wrestling match and then it turned into a war.

A tickle war.

I don't do good with tickle wars.

I tried to move away but Rhett pulled me back and started tickling me again. I couldn't help the little giggles and laughs that escaped my mouth. I was supposed to be mad at him for disturbing my sleep but I couldn't help but laugh as he touched my sides.

"Rhett." Laugh. "Please, sto-op!" I said laughing even more now.

"NEVER!" He yelled and laughed with me.

This went on for about two more minutes until his beta, Max, came in. He looked at us with amusement in his eyes and smiled. But it soon faded away.

"Rhett, I need to talk to you. It's important."

As soon as he said that, I got up and fixed my shirt. I then went into the bathroom to fix my hair. I closed the door but not all the way. I still wanted to hear what Max came to say.

"What about?" Rhett asked him.

"It's about the Starlight Pack. The Alpha has came to talk to you about a war that is going to start."

"Tell him I'll be there soon." Rhett said with an annoyed sigh.

"Yes sir." Max said and left.

A few minutes later Rhett came and knocked on the bathroom door.

"Come in." I said and he did.

"Hey, I know I said that I had a fun day planned for us but things kind of changed now. The Starlight Pack is here and they want to discuss a few things. Maybe we can do it another." He said. He sounded a little upset.

"It's okay. I understand. You go discuss business with them, I'll probably go walking or hang out around the house." I told him with a smile.

He smiled back.

"Okay, I promise that we will do this soon. I didn't know they would come." He said giving me a hug.

"It's okay." I told him again. "It's Alpha stuff." I said hugging him as well.

"Okay." He said kissing me on the forehead. "I'll see you later." He said turning around and walking out the door.

I will admit, I was kind of upset that we couldn't go out and have fun for the rest of the day but he's the Alpha. Alpha's always have business to do.

I left the bathroom and went downstairs to talk with the other members of the pack.

As soon as I came to the last step I saw a little girl crying in the corner. I was concerned so I went over to her.

"What's wrong sweetie?" I asked as I sat down beside her.

"Nobody wa-nts to play w-with me." She said while sniffling.

"I'll play with you." I told her.

She looked up at me with her big blue eyes.

"You will?" She asked.

"Yea, sure I will." I told her. C'mon, let's go get some of your toys and go to my room." I said while getting up. She got up and grabbed my hand.

After that we got some of her toys and went to mine and Rhett's room. We stayed in there and played until it was time to go to bed.
