Belle's POV
'Grandma?' I murmur softly before I can even take a glimpse of her face.
This is a mistake.
The second my eyes gaze into the room, the first thing I see is a bed. A bed with a person on it. That person is my grandmother, wrapped in sheets and covered in tubes attached to this monstrous machine and a weird beeping machine next to her.
What are they doing to her?
I walk briskly to her side and grasp her hand tightly to let her know that I am here, but she does not wake or even stir. I shake her hand lightly and when that does not work I begin shaking it vigorously.
"Grandma! Wake up!' I yell into her ear, so she can hear me. She is an elderly lady after all.
Maybe she can't hear me. That must be it.
"Gra-" I begin to shout again until I feel a cold hand on my shoulder.
"Your grandma is resting, sweetie." The nurse smiles at me, how cruel...
"What's wrong with her?" I wipe the falling tear drops from my eyes and look up at the only person who might be able to comfort me at a time like this.
"She got too 'excited' and her high blood pressure well- she is suffering from atrial fibrillation. It's like a heart attack, but she'll be okay." The nurse assures me with a simper.
"You promise?" I hold out my pinkie for her to shake and at first she just laughs. But when she sees the serious expression on my face, she hooks my pinkie with hers and that is when I know that everything will be alright.
"Good. Now, some very nice people are going to take you now." She leads me out of the room, leaving me with one question unanswered.
"Where are my parents?"
"They...got in a car accident." She winces as she says these words to me.
"Are they okay?" My eyes pop out of my head as the thought of soemthgn terrible happening to them seeps into my mind, contaminating my happy thoughts.
"Well we got them to the hospital okay, but unfortunately...they didn't make it. I am so sorry, sweetie." She responds with remorse, giving me the impression that somethign bad happened, but I still don't know what.
"Make what?"
"Umm...sweetie, I think it's time for you to go now." The nurse tries to change the subject, but I am too stubborn for my own good.
"What happened?" I say more urgently and whiny, so it seems liek I am about to throw a tantrum.
"Your parents are here, but there was so much damage...they died." The nurse graps my shoulders and tells me the unbreable news gently, but very bluntly that it makes me even more upset.
"What?" I look down at the floor for a second...
"Sweetie-" The nurse tries to push me along.
"Let me see them. Now." I demand with such force, just like the big girl I have to be. I pull away from the nurse's grasp and turn around to face her sternly.
"I don't think you want to-"
"Now."
The nurse takes me to where my parents are and I open the curtains. I don't know what I am seeing, but I know what I am hearing. My heart breaking for the very first time.
"I want to go now.' I walk away from my beloved parents bruised, broken bodies like nothing happened.
