At the orphanage…
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE LEFT!?” Ms. Hableknuck shrieks at Annie, who is currently cowering on the floor of her bed in tears, which dampen the newly mopped floor.
“I didn’t have anything to do with it, cross my heart.” Annie’s bawls increasingly get louder and louder and alert the rest of the girls, who come huddling to the center of the bedroom to hear what the fuss is about.
“GIRRRLLSSS!!” Ms. Hableknuck loud scream shakes the whole room and her glaring eyes shake the nerves of everyone in the room.
“Yes, Ms. Hableknuck?” The girls say monotonously.
“Where is Ms. Belle?” She paces back and forth in front of the girls, her heels tapping against the floor in a very impatient manner.
(The girls mutter several things in response and shake their heads)
“I said WHERE IS SHE?!” Ms. Hableknuck stops right in front of Maggie, a very VERY shy girl who is very close to having a mental breakdown right in front of everyone.
“I dunn-“ Maggie whimpers, failing to make eye contact with the head master.
“WHERE IS SHE?” Ms. Hableknuck repeats herself louder and more sternly, as if the past conversation hadn’t been stern enough.
“We don’t know where she went!” Judy talks back, and immediately regrets it.
“That’s it! Judy! Annie! Maggie! Into the ‘naughty room’! All of you! I’ll expect you will have a better attitude when you come out of there!” Ms. Hableknuck punishes the lot of them mercilessly, while the other girls exchange a look of fear amongst themselves.
“F-for how long?” Maggie mumbles with a quivered lip, near the brink of a flood-full of tears.
“You’ll be spending the whole night for your rude behavior.” Ms. Hableknuck points towards the empty closet and sentences them to their fate. To end off this terrible incident, Ms. Hableknuck gives everyone the ‘evil eye’ and leaves abruptly-sending shivers down everyone’s spines.
“You all better tell me where she is when I come back…” Her voice echoes down the stair case and haunts the minds of the girls because the truth was: they don’t know where she is. How can they? Even Belle doesn’t know where she is…
