Belle’s POV
One hour later…
At this point in time, I am now more desperate than I have very been in my life-for food, water, and shelter. The sun is at its highest now, which means that its harmful rays are now beating down on me with all its resent.
I thought that this would be easy-that it was just one straight path down the road. But now I’ve wandered off, so far from the main road that I don’t even know where I am, not that I didn’t know where I was before, but now I’m even more lost.
There is no point in crawling, since there is no one around. So, I make my best efforts to stand up, but that proves to be much harder than I anticipated. After several attempts, I manage to wobble my way to who-knows-where… I figured that eventually, I would end up somewhere; I just had to keep traveling.
Later….
My legs are weak and wobbly and my head is aching from lack of food, but I continue to trudge through the grass. In fact, my head hurts so much that I think I’m hallucinating.
When I’m finally at the top of a hill…
About a quarter of mile away, just down below, there are two tall figures standing next to a large truck.
Is that? It can’t be…it is! People! Maybe they can help me!!!
I finally feel hopeful, when a haunted thought arises.
But what if…
Why would there be two people…in the middle of nowhere…
What if…
Then I ever so faintly hear a voice….from about a quarter a mile away…
“That’s her.”
