Zelda curled her fingers around her blanket and buried herself further into her pillow. Who's playing, Princess, she recalled for the hundredth time; she couldn't get it out of her head.

She couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if they hadn't been interrupted by those two staff.

Had Link almost... had they almost... kissed?

Zelda thought that Link was just a close friend... or so she had been telling herself. Of course she was attracted to him, he was gorgeous. He knew her really well... and she knew him. He could make her laugh, smile... blush...

Thinking about blushing, she wasn't sure if she'd seen Link get flustered before. She was sure it had to have happened at some point, but he was way too in control for that to happen often, unlike her. She was just a walking heap of embarrassment; she only had to be poked before she would turn a different color, let alone have Link take off his shirt in front of her.

Zelda cast her blankets aside and got out of bed. She put on a jacket and went down the stairs, her bare feet echoing with each step. She made it to the kitchen and she checked the clock on the stove.

Zelda let out a breath, grabbed a cup from the shelf, and filled it with water. She leaned back against the counter as she raised the glass to her lips and slowly took a sip of the cold water. "Who's playing?" she muttered under her breath. "Who's playing... Idiot, what's he thinking," she said. "I can't tell the tease from the truth anymore," she said as she took another drink of water.

"Isn't it a bit too late to be talking to yourself?"

Zelda spun around and saw Link sitting in a chair in the corner with his phone in his hand. He must have been sitting there the whole time. She just stared at him. If he'd heard...

"Couldn't sleep?" he asked.

Zelda shook her head.

"Me neither," he said as he turned his phone's screen off and leaned back into the chair. "Is it my fault?"

She shook her head again, even though she had been thinking about what he'd said... what they'd almost done...

"I didn't mean to freak you out," Link said as he leaned forward, his chin on his hand, a slight frown on his lips.

Zelda curled her fist behind her. Why couldn't she respond? She couldn't think of anything at all to say.

"... I should probably try to go to sleep again," Link said as he stood up.

I gave him the impression I didn't want him around, Zelda thought as he walked past her. She took a step towards him. "Wait, Link..."

Link turned around. "Princess?"

Zelda bit her lip and looked away. "...since we both can't sleep... let's go up on the roof..."

He flashed a smile. "Sounds good to me," he said and followed her up the stairs.

She shoved two blankets and two pillows into his arms as they passed the closet, and then unlocked the window and took out the screen again.

"I thought there was a door out here."

"There is a balcony that has access to the roof but it's on the wrong side, the path lights block out the stars too much," she explained as she laid out the blankets, much like she had done just a few nights before. The roof was slightly angled, but that was perfect. She sat down and tilted her head back to look up at the sky.
