DAY 1

12:30 PM

Dear reader,

Well, I'm here. And, I already saw two ghosts standing outside and as I approached one of them threw himself into the ravine, which is the main reason why there are so many spirits, because a lot of people jumped down here. Now, you must be claimed physically stable to be able to book a room on the cliff side. I took my doctor's claim with me, because obviously I wanted a room on the cliff side, as there would be more ghosts there.

I went inside and met the receptionist, who looked eerily like the receptionist from the first hotel I was in. I booked the desired room and immediately went to it...

On first notice, I didn't encounter anything strange, and I was beginning to worry that the murdered girl would be the only thing that I would encounter this trip.

"Dear diary,

I'm beginning to worry, as I didn't hear a thing from Martin today. I presume, he is just busy, trying to communicating with the spirit world, but.. I've still got that annoying gut feeling, that there's something not right! I'm told that you should always listen to your gut, and it's really prominent at the moment, so, I'm.. I'm going to call him right now...

So, I've called him. He says nothing is wrong, and that he is indeed trying to communicate with a man who was jumped there, so he should hang up. I'm a little more calm now then I was before, although he is communicating with a dead person. Which hasn't surprised me since the first ever date.. I'm going to stop rambling now and go to work. Rose out."

Apparently I forgot to call Rose, as she called me, frightened.. while I was communicating with a man who had jumped, so I got a massive headache, as he fell head first onto the giant ravine beneath, so I might have sounded a bit heavy. I really hope she hadn't been worried about it. Well, I'm going to end the journal now, and try further, because he has a big story to tell me.

I will update it next time.

Yours sincerely,

Martin

12:00 AM (midnight)

Dear reader,

I'll now explain what happened to the man I was talking about.

I saw him walking by, as I was sitting on the bed, also, the clock suddenly started to act extremely weird; it changed to a 24-hour digit clock, the time was on 23:59, while it was just 19:30, and the minute counter started to count backwards every second, like a timer had been set on 24 minutes... then the man walked in and walked to the window, where he stood in for a little while. I called him and he looked back, startled. "C-can you see me?"

I nodded. "I am a person who can see ghosts and communicate with them.." He climbed back out of the window and stood in front of me. I was a little frightened, as for what he might do to me. However, he simply nodded and asked me: "Would you like to hear my story then?" I nodded and my vision became unclear like last time, but now it was more of a greyish colour...

My vision came back in a beautiful, cosy home, quite big actually. The next moment I heard a couple come in, fighting heavily. After a couple of minutes, I heard a small, desperate cry upstairs, the man went to check it out, still screaming against his wife. He came back down, with an amazing looking baby. The man looked at his wife furiously and yelled: "You were supposed to have a miscarriage, I'm getting rid of this terrible spawn right now!" the wife cried for mercy, but the man did not show it, he ran off. I heard a whisper. "the baby was me, I was left out on the street and got raised by a nursery home. I will take you to the moment in the hotel...

my vision flashed to grey again and I was back in the room I was in a few days ago. I stood in front of room 1407 again. The last events I saw there still shook me to my core. I saw a man walking by, he looked through the keyhole and simply fainted. "I couldn't believe or witness what was happening there, so I went to the Paradise View Hotel to, well, end it all. You should know I had a wife and a child, my wife left me for some ponce and never came back from him.. You guessed it, that was the girl who was killed right there.

My vision went to grey again and I was back in the Paradise View Hotel. I saw him coming into the room, walking to the bed and just literally sitting there, crying. Eventually he stood up, took a tape recorder from his bag, and started to speak.

"Dear listener," suddenly it was like he blurred the sound, because I could not hear anything he said. "If you pay close attention, you can listen to it yourself, I don't want to make you hear it.. let's say, it's quite bad..."

I then saw him drop the device on the ground, behind the table leg. After which he stood in the window and literally just dove into the ravine. I did not get up to look, but I heard a bloodcurdling scream, followed by the sounds of shattering bones, that echoed through the mountains a few times, it was horrifying.

My vision changed again and I was finally back in the real world again, the man was gone and showed no response when I called him. So I went and looked for the sound recorder. Bingo! It was still behind the table leg. "Nice cleaning guys." I thought to myself and grinned about it.

I really doubted if the thing was still going to work but, miraculously, it did. It started right away.

"Dear listener,

Before I'm going to plummet down to the ravine below, I want you to know the following; I would lie if I said I haven't done anything bad as well, I have been on drugs, while I could have said no, I have participated in drug deals for a staggering sum of money.. it's always about money, stinking, foul, dirty, rotten cash! I've participated in things you wouldn't even believe existed. I went through hell every single night of my childhood, was taught that murder was no crime, was told that rape was just a common business! But I know better now, I acknowledge that I've sinned during my childhood and beyond that, sinned against my wife and child, because I was taught it was the right thing! I truly regret the things of the past, but I must acknowledge the fact that I cannot turn it back now.. I can't do anything but end it already.. it's simply too much to handle for a common man with a childhood like me. I'm sorry mother, for letting you down, I'm sorry father, for ever being born, I'm sorry Elisabeth, for all that I put you through. And most of all, I'm sorry Elliot, my sweet son, for leaving you."

"Good bye, forever..."

The recording stopped, and I sat there on the bed, sighing heavily, holding back the many tears that were making their way up to my eye. I could not move. It felt like, like if I got off the bed, I would fall endlessly to the very gates of hell, where Satan would be waiting for me, with his warm, but deadly embrace. Instead, I turned onto the bed and lied down, trying to catch some sleep, which I am going to do right now, good night to you all...

Yours sincerely,

Martin.
