My eyes flung open as I realized I had only been dreaming. I must have been rolling around in my sleep because I ached everywhere.
I got out of my bed and my legs hurt so bad, they clapsed under me. Next thing I know I'm on the floor. I pulled myself up and used all my strength to not topple over again.
I slowly walked to the Great Hall and realized that there were only a few people sitting down. I sat down, now knowing the agenda, and the food appeared in front of me. I was sitting alone at a table till someone decided to walk over and sit next to me. It was Jaspen!
"Hey," he said. "You looked lonely and thought you could use some company." I blushed. "You didn't have to come over," I said, not wanting to sound in pain. "Your right. I didn't have to. I wanted to." I blushed harder and hoped he couldn't knotice.
"Well." He said after a brief akward silence. "I'm going to head back to my room. I looked down at his plate and realized he had already finished his breakfast. "Your right." I had already finished my breakfast as well.
On his way out, I saw Jaspen stop by a small wooden table and pick up a piece of paper. I, likewise, did the same. There I found another piece piece of paper with my name on it. Just like the first paper I got, it had a task to do on it.
"India White, you are here because you are special. Please read your task carefully and follow its instructions."
Now that I thought about it, what did they mean when they said I was "Special" ? I read further.
"If you made it to the second task, we are willing to work with you. Your second task is to not die today."
"WHAT?" I screamed out loud. "AM I GOING TO DIE!?"
At that moment, lazers filled out on the walls of my room. So that's why they made it circular. So they could try to kill me.
In a split second, a lazer shot off and hit my bed. It immediately caught on fire, so I guess they're real lazers. I was trapped in a locked bedroom with a burning fire, and lazers. I'm doomed.
A lazer shot at me. "Here we go," I thought. "This is the end of India White. Then something strange happened.
At that precise moment, the lazer stopped in mid-air. No, not stopped, slowed down, a lot! When I looked around me, everything seemed to be going in slow motion. The fire was spreading slower, the lazers were shooting slower. The only thing that was going normal pace was me!
I started to panic. As soon as I did that, the lazers sped up again and there was still one about to hit me. I quickly dodged it by doing a back hand spring, which I had never been able to do a day in my life!
Then, as soon as they turned on, the lazers tured off and melted back into the wall. The fire on my bed had also left as soon as it came and didn't leave a trace of ash. I was so in shock I didn't know what to do. Something strange was going on. And I needed answers, and I needed them now.
