Kurt thought he was uinconcious for a second, that perhaps this was a dream. He, ofcourse, realized this was a silly thought, and...Blaine was kissing him. Even though somewhere in his brain, he heard himself saying that this shouldn't be happening, Kurt couldn't help but cloud over that thought and slowly began to respond, kissing Blaine back. It was a Broadway solo, except better.
Kurt smiled before they broke apart, dazed. It was short, but it was the best few seconds of his life, Kurt decided.
"Kurt..." began Blaine, anxious, "Please say something, because if you don't, I am going to tell you something and I don't know what you would say and-"
"Blaine." said Kurt, looking up at the hazel eyes.
"Yea?" asked Blaine, hand holding on to Kurt's like a life line. He glanced anxiously up at the soft glaze eyes before smiling, unable to stop himself. He breathed in and out, feeling like the world froze.
Because he loved Kurt Hummel, and Kurt was his soulmate. Blaine was never more sure of anything of his life. The boy in front of him took his breath away, and he couldn't explain, no matter how hard he tried, all the emotions he was feeling. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with Kurt. He might die of heartbreak if Kurt rejected him, but even then he would love Kurt, forever and always.
"I-I...I love...I-I..." but Kurt didn't know what to say. The conflicted emotions fought deep in his heart and no matter how much he wanted to tell Blaine, he knew that it could hurt him. He didn't understand why this had to happen now. When he was this close from danger everywhere he went, and anyone inflicting a romantic relationship would just as well be targeted. It's over.
"I won't. You can't. I-I-I..." said Kurt, tears threatening to fall. He can't put Blaine in danger. He can't. Kurt backed out of the room, shaking his head, before collasping and crying.
Blaine sat where he was, and gulped. Because this can't be happening. Blaine thought hard, because all the flirting between the two can't just be nothing. Blaine watched as Kurt cried, not sure what was going on because he was in denial.
Half an hour passed and Blaine left the room. "I'm sorry." he whispered as he left, unsure whether Kurt heard him or not. He couldn't bring himself to cry as he drove away. It was like someone else was controlling his body.
For the next few days, Blaine had the same nightmare over and over again, the same one where Kurt walks of the roof, and Blaine's heart shatters everytime. He can't barely keep himself from crying at night now, and woke up with tears tracks on his face. The thing was, he wasn't even regretting the fact that he confessed to Kurt. Was that selfish?
Everyday, Kurt looked worse. He hadn't heard from Blaine, and even though he called, Blaine wouldn't reply, and Kurt suspected that he turned his phone off. He wished that he never met Blaine. He wouldn't have to face all this heartbreak. Everything was a mess.
When the two pass each other in the Dalton hallways, it was a sturdy silence that followed. Blaine didn't understand, and was hurt. Kurt was pained, knowing he can't tell Blaine his true feelings, because Blaine would insist on being with him, which would only bring problems for him.
But just how much were they willing give up for each other, the other never considered. Kurt always went home with red eyes, and Blaine always went home tired and exsausted.
On Thursday, Kurt woke up with a headache. It was another event that was coming up more and more currently, and he nearly always had advil to numb the pain. Whether it was just the headache he was trying to numb, he wasn't sure. Kurt didn't want to go to school, especially in this state. But his parents paid so much for his education, he wasn't going to throw it away because of a migraine.
Kurt's phone buzzed, and Kurt, thinking it was Blaine, opened it, only to be annoyed by another threat.
I know where you are.
Kurt bursted out crying for the billionth time that week and buried his head in the comforter for another four minutes of sleep. When he was grudgingly woken by Wes, Kurt unwillingly followed.
"Kurt. You are going to get up and get a hold of your self." said Wes.
"A hold?" said Kurt sarcastically. " Sure, I'll just get a bottle of super glue and peice myself together. I've never thought of that before."
"I am serious. Get up. " said Wes.
Kurt gave up and threw his phone on the bed before pulling the comforter away. He looked at Wes and Wes looked back at him in horror and shock....and concern.
"You look..."
"Really bad?" asked Kurt. "I realised."
"Upset. That's what. Let's get you settled down. We have another minute. Tell me what's wrong. Does this have anything to do with Blaine?" asked Wes, but Kurt's flinch at Blaine's name already gave away the answer. "Oh Kurt. Come on. You can't avoid eachother for ever. You two have to talk. "
Kurt's eyes widened as he shook his head at Wes. But Wes ignored this and giddily pulled Kurt along to the warbler's common room. Kurt cursed in his head and sighed internally. It was only luck that his migraine didn't come back. He was going to miss his classes. Kurt heaved deep breaths when he arrived at the room and saw Blaine sitting there, motionless. He wasn't even given time to catch his breath before Wes shoved him in the room. The noise caused Blaine to turn around, and Kurt caught the red rimmed eyes and a fake smile. But that wasn't the only thing that Kurt noticed.
Because another boy was sitting beside Blaine, holding his hand.
Kurt whipped around and ran out of the room. Not sure what was going on. He didn't even bother to turn around when Blaine yelled after him.
