Ø  At the Park-Shawna

It’s really late, thought Shawna, Maybe I should go home; everyone is probably worried about me. She was sitting on a bench a few feet away from the playground; she unbuckled the top strap and took off her black leather Phoenix Jimmy Choo sandals that Vinn got her for her birthday, which he always seemed to spend more than what he should have on her. She buried her feet into the sand of the playground area, as she dug her feet into the warm sand she thought to herself, this sand is extremely soft, yet it feels so warm and comforting. She unburied her feet and walked slowly to the swings that stood 2 feet in front of her; she found the tallest swing and leaped into the seat.

Her hair was blowing blissfully in the wind, as she swung back and forth on the swing set. Why do I feel so bad about Norah Collins’ death? I mean I never really knew her. Yes, I knew of her but we never talked nor hung out outside of school. Shawna heard faint footsteps in front of her, she looked up from the sand and saw a 6 foot 2 inch tall guy. This guy had hair to his shoulders.  She really couldn’t make out his face, since he was in the dark and not under a street light. Shawna gasped softly, so softly that no one could hear her. She started to slow the swing down by dragging her feet across the sandy surface. She looked back up and she noticed that the guy quit walking and was staring right at her, without taking their eyes off of one another he started to walk closer to her.

The guy walked into a street light slowly. He stopped in the center of the light; he was wearing light blue, faded jeans with a red south pole t-shirt and some black skater shoes. His hair was dirty blonde, and his eyes were the prettiest ice blue eyes you could ever see on anyone. On his neck you could see a tattoo, but it was too dark to make out what it was. You could see his biceps trying to peak out of his sleeves, but he wasn’t as muscular as Vinn was, but he was close.

“Oh my god Garrett, what are you doing here?” asked Shawna as she jumped off of the swing and ran to the guy under the light.

“I am going to school here,” said Garrett.

“What school?”

“Cape Central High,” Garrett said as he brushed his hair out of his face.

“Really? I go there.”

“Really? I just moved here and decided to take a stroll around town and get used to the place before I started school tomorrow.”

“Wow, this is weird,” Shawna said subconsciously.

“What is weird?”

“Ryan shows up today, and now you show up. Oh, you remember Ryan, right?”

“Of course I remember that guy, he was the one that had that thing with your best friend, right?”

“Yeah, I guess you could say that. Let’s move to the bench so we can talk and catch up while I put my shoes back on,” Shawna said as she reached for Garrett’s arm and lead him to the bench that she was sitting on earlier.

They sit down on the bench, side by side. Shawna grabbed one of her sandals that was sitting slightly under the seat and lifted her foot up simultaneously and Garrett leaned forward and took it from her.

“Where did you get these shoes from, they look expensive. More than what you can buy.”

“I got them from my boyfriend. How do you know that I they are more than what I could buy?” Shawna said as she snatched it away from him.

She placed her foot inside the sandal and began buckling the strap and after she finished with the first one she grabbed the other one and put it on.
