Friday-Lunch Baci Drove (section 4.6)

Ø  Friday-Lunch-Baci Drove

 After the boring morning classes that made Vinn and Jonny fall asleep; they met up with the girls and Tay in the cafeteria at their normal lunch table. Vinn has Shawna’s long, stem like legs draped over his, with her head on his shoulder. Tay was sitting next to Brenna; they are not sitting as close to each other as usual because Brenna is mad at Tay for not telling her that she was beautiful this morning. Jonny had to make sure that he had his normal seat to where he can see Tiff from across the cafeteria.

“Hey Bug, I got to go to the ladies room, will you go with me?” asked Shawna who was reaching for her bright pink Kathy Van Zeeland purse.

“Yeah, I will go with you.”

Shawna got up and gave Vinn a sweet kiss on the lips, Brenna, on the other hand, stood up and walked away from the table with Shawna. Tay was just sitting at the table in a slump as Brenna walked away from him without giving him a kiss or a hug. Tay just shrugged and turned to the guys.

“So, what’s been up with you lately?” Tay asked Jon as he was sitting up straighter.

Jonny took a quick glance over at Tiffani who was sitting at her table with her cousins. “I can’t keep hiding this from you guys,” Jon said as his voice cracked.

“What is it man?” Vinn asked as he was moving his body closer to Jon, as if Jonny was getting ready to spill a juicy secret.

“If I tell you guys this, you gotta promise not to tell Shawn and Bren?”

“We promise we won’t tell ‘em,” both Vinn and Tay said together at the same time.

“Well last night, I was lying on the bench in the backyard by the forest. I was thinking about what had happened yesterday and how I couldn’t remember what happened, and I was thinking about Tiffani…” Jonny hesitated because he didn’t know if he should tell them about the kiss.

“Okay what else?” Tay said because he couldn’t wait to hear what happened next.

“Tiffani showed up…”

“WHAT???” Vinn and Tay shouted together interrupting Jonny. They said it so loud that it almost got quiet in the cafeteria.

“Tiffani showed up. She scared me, because I didn’t hear her come up through the woods, so I grabbed her arm and took her deeper into the woods so Shawna wouldn’t see us from your window and end up killing us both. I was telling her how she shouldn’t be here and then she kept touching my face and the red marks that Shawna left. Her hand was so smooth, that I couldn’t help myself. So I kissed her.”

“YOU KISSED HER!?!” Vinn shouted so loudly that the whole cafeteria fell quiet and stared at them. Tiffani looked over at his table with a puzzled look on her face that said “What is going on over there?” but she just turned around and qwnt back to her conversation with Parker.

“Yeah we kissed. I couldn’t help it. Here come the girls. Remember you promised.” Jonny said quickly as the girls were closing in on the table.

Shawna sat back down next to Vinn, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek as she sat down. Brenna sat down next to Tay, nothing was exchanged, and she was just being stubborn as usual.

“So what were you guys talking about?” Shawna asked Vinn in a hushed voice so no one else at the table could hear.

“Nothing really, just some man stuff.” Vinn answered as he was trying to avert from Shawna’s green eyes.

Shawna leaned over to Vinn’s ear and whispered something salaciously into his ear.

Vinn blurted out with everyone at the table hearing him, “Jon kissed that psychotic chick, Tiffani.”

Shawna’s face fell and her jaw dropped almost to the floor.  “What the fuck, Jonny?!” Brenna screamed accidentally flipping her tray of food onto the table and inadvertently all over Tay.

“Brenna, I didn’t do it on purpose,” Jonny tried to convince her, he had shot Vinn an evil glance, but Vinn had shrugged it off since he was busy hanging on Shawna.

“Oh really?” retorted Brenna sitting back down, trying to avoid stares from people at other tables in the cafeteria, “I’m so sure you slipped, and your lips fell on her lips!”  Brenna’s face was beet red.

“Well it wasn’t exactly like that,” he smirked and Brenna dug in.

“Wipe that ugly ass teenage boy smirk off your face.  I will deal with you later, and trust me when I’m done with you; you’ll wish Shawna was the one dealing with you!”  She turned to Tay who was currently picking peas out of his hair and spaghetti off his new shirt.  “By the way you totally deserved that tray of food all over you for being such a douche earlier.”  She didn’t say anything, and fled the cafeteria. Shawna got up and ran, as fast as she could, after Brenna. The bell rang to end lunch to go to next period.

“Bug, wait up!” Shawna yelled as she was trying to catch up with Brenna. “Hello, I said wait up. I know you can hear me.”

“I don’t want to talk right now Bunny; I just need to get my thoughts settled and to figure out if it was a good idea to bring him into this group.”

“Hey, that is one thing that he was born into, just like us,” Shawna said while making hand gestures toward her and Brenna. “He is my second cousin, and I don’t treat him like it but, shit, I can’t stand him just as much as you. But, he has a natural right to be here, like us,” Shawna tried to explain with a little bit of sympathy in her voice.

“I know that he is related to you, but does he really have to act this way every time we turn around? I hate always having to move to a new state or country.” Brenna tried to defend her meaning.

“Hey, you and I can talk about this after school, just the two of us. Will that make you feel a little better?”

“Yeah that would help Bunny. Thank You for being there for me.”

“Ok, now we need to hurry since we are late for Home Ec.”

Shawna reached for Brenna and gave her a long hug; Shawna wrapped her arm in Brenna’s arm as they walked to class.
