Ø  Thursday Night-Chaste’s Backyard/Tiffani

Tiffani sat down on a large, black leather covered benches that was sitting underneath the stars in their gazebo. The gazebo was strategically placed in the center of the yard. It was circular shaped with four entry ways with leather-covered benches between the entry ways.

Tiffani sprawled herself out on the couch, finding a comfortable way to draw. She opened up her sketch pad and was about to connect the pencil to the paper when she felt something strange. Tiff looked toward the back of the yard, through the line of trees and saw nothing. She turned her head toward the right, overlooking the pool, the tool shed, and the red corvette that was broken and sitting next to the shed under a white sheet. She didn’t see anything.

I guess I am just a little paranoid she thought.

Tiffani turned back to her sketch pad and began to draw. When she draws, she thinks of nothing. She just lets her hand move. It feels like her hand is being led by something else. She loves to draw because it helps her relax and it also helps her relieve stress. She has been drawing ever since she was able to write. Her father always encouraged her to keep drawing and he would even draw along side with her. She feels closer to him every time she finishes something.

After about twenty minutes of drawing, she looked down to see what had appeared.

She noticed a snout and pointy ears. She also started to draw what looked like fur. As her hand kept moving across the smooth paper, she noticed that she was drawing two figures. Long hair, slim figure, average height and a smile on what looked like a girls face. Her hand started to move faster. She could hardly tell what was being drawn so Tiffani looked up at the stars and counts the constellations that she saw. By the time her hand was done moving, she has counted about nine constellations. Tiffani picks up the pad and puts it in the moon light and she is amazed at what she sees.

I drew a picture of me in the arms of a wolf? That’s crazy. Who is the wolf? Why would I be in the arms of something that seems so mean and vicious? So many questions seem to have popped up into her head at the sight of the drawing. She puts her pad on the couch and she gets up and walks over to the railing. She places her elbows on the cold, damp wood and looks up at the stars once again. I drew a wolf this morning, and now I drew another one but it was different. This one had me in its arms. I looked so happy. What’s wrong with me? Tiffani has no answers to all of her questions. She has to find answers for them.

Tiffani stepped out of the gazebo and headed for the back of the yard, where the trees form a border around the yard. Eleanor was putting the dishes into the sink when she saw something move from outside. She pulled the white, flower curtains away from the window and spotted Tiffani disappearing into the tress.

Where is she going? Eleanor thought.

As Tiffani was walking, she decided that she could not be near the house right now. She had to get away and have some time to just think. Once she reached the edge of the trees, she found the tall fence that marks the end of their property. She jumped the fence and just started walking not knowing where it would take her.

About an hour and a half later, Tiffani walked in through the kitchen door and spotted Lillian and Eleanor putting away the clean dishes and Parker sitting on the round couch in the living room watching Alpha Dog.

“So how was drawing outside?” asked Lillian trying to take the drawing pad out of her hand.

“Stop that! It’s none of your business,” protested Tiffani while clutching her sketch pad as if her life depended on it. “Why are you guys so curious about what I draw?”

“You always seem to be more interested in your drawings than hanging out with us. I am getting kinda lonely without my cousin around,” Lillian explained with a puppy dog look on her face while walking over to Tiff and pushing her up out of the kitchen doors. She grabbed Tiffani’s left hand and lead her up to her bed room.

Lillian opened the double doors to her room that was half the size of an auditorium. Her bed was so big that an elephant could lie down on it and still have room to roll over. She had clothes all over the floor; she probably did not even know what was clean or dirty. She had a desk on the left side of the room next to the closet. Her desk was covered with all kinds of makeup, hair supplies, finger nail polish, and jewelry. On the far side of the room was her bay window. It had a sill along it with a cushion and a few pillows.   She walked over to the closet and dug out her pajamas. Lillian came out with a white tank top and pink margarita pants.

Tiffani walked over to the window sill as carefully as she could, so she does not on anything that might actually brake. She placed her sketch pad on the right side of the cushion as she leans against the left side of the window.

“So what’s on your mind?” Lillian asked while walking over to her bed.

“There is just so much that is going on right now; that guy, Jonny, from this morning, my drawing of a wolf. This is just getting really confusing.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You promise you will not tell anyone?”

“I promise.”

“Okay but after I tell you this, we need to come up with a way to keep it from Eleanor. I am not ready to tell her until I know what it means.”

“Yeah, plus I already have an idea on what we could use.”

Tiff grabbed her sketch pad from the other side of her and opened up to the page of her in the wolf’s arms. She also told her that before she began to draw, she felt someone or something watching her but she didn’t see anything.

“I have no idea what is going on. I mean I look so happy in this picture but I have no idea what it means.” Tiffani tried to stay calm but that does not happen. She stood up and started to walk around the room to calm herself.

“I don’t know how to help or even how to start explaining this. But you were right. We do need to find a way to keep this from El. I know that she will get pissed from hiding this from her but we have to find out what it means first. If it has no meaning, then we don’t have to tell her,” Lillian said. “Next time we are around El, just think of a brick wall being built. I read about it in a book. Just make sure that whatever you picture is sturdy enough to not crumble to a million pieces when something hits it.”

“Are you sure that’s going to help?” Tiffani asked.

“Yeah, I am pretty sure that it would help. I tried it today but I have no idea if it worked or not because I didn’t try too hard.”

“Thanks Lilly for letting me talk to you about this. I was going to go crazy if I kept it to myself.”

“What do you mean…” Lillian started, when there was a knock at her door.

Eleanor walked in telling Lillian and Tiffani that she and Parker were going to hit the hay and that they would see them at 7:00 in the morning. Eleanor then closed the door behind her.

“I better be going to bed too. I am really tired of thinking about this picture,” Tiff said grabbing her sketch pad before she walked over to give her cousin a hug good night. She closed the double doors to her cousin’s room and headed to her own room at the other end of the house.
