The tension in the dining room was almost unbearable.

Michael and Levi were in some kind of stare off, while B (also known as Becca, Levi's 14 year old little sister) continued to give me the death glare whilst stabbing her slab of beef repeatedly, and Tammy and my dad looked just downright confused. To sum it all up, here's what I've learned today:

•My dad is a hard core rocker

•One of my best friend's little sister is in love with my boyfriend

•Said best friend is actually my step brother, and said little sister is actually my step sister

•My boss is my step mom

•Levi didn't know my real name is Meredith, but yet his mom knew

•Tammy had no clue I was the Meredith my dad apparently always talks about

"So, you all already know each other?" My dad asked, pointing to all of us. I nodded my head.

"I work at the bakery with Levi and Tammy," I confirmed.

"I just don't understand how I didn't figure that out," Tammy said meekly, pushing her peas to the side of her plate.

"And you and Michael?" My dad went on, now looking at Levi.

"He came into the bakery the other day," Levi said through gritted teeth. I rolled my eyes. Levi and I were just friends, so why was he being all weird? He doesn't even know Michael yet he's acting like he hates him.

"How long have you been dating?" B suddenly asked.

Michael and I looked at each other. I didn't want to tell the truth, that we'd only been dating for 2 days cause then I'd get the "oh it won't last" speech. But I also didn't want to lie and say we'd been dating longer, cause Levi knew the truth. I stared done at the napkin in my lap and stayed quiet.

"Not long enough," Michael answered, placing a hand on my thigh. A small smile played at my lips.

"Why are you even dating her?" B scoffed and my smile dropped.

"Rebecca!" Tammy exclaimed, slamming her fork down on the table. B shrunk in her seat and scowled.

"She knows why," Michael chuckled, smiling at me. I resisted the urge to tackle him right then and there.

"Who's Ivy Levan?"

All eyes landed on Levi when he spoke. I felt all the color drain from my face as I turned to look at Michael, who was also looking pretty pale. My stomach turned.

"My um, she's a friend, kind of," Michael answered, his voice cracking.

I stared harshly at the beef that sat untouched on my plate. Tears were already welling up in my eyes and I could feel everyone staring at me, waiting for me to snap due to the conversation about Ivy, the platinum blonde girl from the pictures that were all over twitter and Instagram a few weeks ago.

"Just a friend?" Levi pushed, and I wanted to leap across the table and stab him with my butter knife.

"Er- yes?" Michael said. He was beginning to look confused.

"You two were looking pretty cozy for 'just friends'," Levi continued, now glaring at Michael – who was shriveling under his harsh gaze, I might add.

"It was hot so I took my shirt off, so what?" Michael defended, his previous state quickly disappearing while he sat up straighter and glared right back at Levi.

"Did you fuck her?"

I grimaced at Levi's choice of words as I heard Tammy and my dad begin to chew his ass out for using such words at the dinner table. The arguing was at a low hum to me, seeing as everything was fading out.

I didn't want to talk about this. I didn't want to hear about this. I'd spent almost 2 weeks pushing it all in the back of my head and locking it in a chest and tossing out the key. I wanted nothing to do with this, but I knew that Levi was just looking out for me.

Michael grabbed my hand, making me look at him. His eyebrows were pulled together with concern.

"I didn't."

----

The ride home was more or less awkward and slightly uncomfortable. I was mad. But I was mad at Levi for bringing that up at the worst time possible. Any other time, maybe in private, he could have asked like a civilized person. And even though I had my suspicions at first, I trust Michael. I trust that he wouldn't do something like that.

"You believe me, right?"

Squinting my eyes through the windshield in attempt to see through the rain, I nodded and bite hard down on my lip.

"She was just a groupie. She kept taking pictures and videos, it got... annoying. She's cool and all, but, y'know."

"Yeah."

"Are you mad?"

"Not at you. I trust you."

"I love you, Mae," he murmured. I could feel him staring at me, waiting for me to do something. So I pulled into a huge empty parking lot and skid to a stop.

"Get out."
