/// wtf i hate living in america i want the fucking skh ep so bad *cries in a corner*///

I zipped up the side of my maroon dress, sucking in till it zipped all the way. I adjusted my glasses and glanced at myself in the mirror, absentmindedly running my fingers through the ends of my lightly curled hair.

Aside from the beautiful dress Kat had found for me, I wore a simple black choker that had a small crescent moon dangling off of it and a small heart ring on my left pinky finger. My legs were as smooth as a baby's butt and my smoky eye looked pretty damn good. I had to admit, I cleaned up pretty well for Mikey.

Mikey.

I smiled to myself, bouncing lightly on the balls of my feet. I was so excited to finally, physically, meet him. After nearly 10 months of knowing each other, going through everything we went through, I was finally going to meet him. And surprise him, nonetheless. I was nervous, but only a little bit.

I was impressed with myself, but after all, the Buddhists say that if you meet someone and your heart pounds, your hands shake, and your knees go weak, then they're not the one. And when you meet your soulmate, you'll feel calm. No anxiety, no agitation.

And I was as calm as I've ever felt.

My plan was to sneak into Michael's hotel room while he was performing (check), set up a nice dinner curtesy of the staff (check), and give him the present I made him. And of course, finally tell him that I'm in love with him.

As I tousled my hair a little bit, my phone started ringing. I skipped happily over to where it laid on the bed, scooping it up and reading "Daddy long legs" that flashed on the screen. I smirked.

"Hey Lu-"

"Mae," Luke rushed, sounding breathless. My smirk immediately fell. "Mae there was an accident."

"What?" My voice cracked and my hands started shaking. '

"Mike, he- fuck," Luke's voice shook with fear. There was shuffling, then another voice.

"Mae head to *insert random hospital here* now," Calum spoke to me in an equally shaky voice.

"Calum what happened?" I urged, holding back a sob.

"Ash told our driver to pick you up at the hotel, he should be there in a minute. It's Mike, h-he.."

"Cal please," I cried, shoving my arms in the flannel Michael had given me and pushing my feet into his infamous combat boots – that were three sizes too big, I might add – making me look like I had clown feet.

But now was not the time to worry about that.

"Mike's hair caught on fire from one of the fireworks at the show."

By now I'm in the elevator, my hand is covering my mouth because I can't believe what I actually just heard.

He caught on fire.

"Is he okay?!" I blurted out along with a sob.

"I don't know. They have a bunch of cooling gauze wrapped around his face and the side of his head," he informs me.

I rush out of the elevator when the doors open and run for the van that's parked out front.

"I'm in the van, I'll be there soon."

----

As I'm rushing through the hospital, trying to find someone who will tell me where Michael is, I can't stop the tears streaming down my face and the millions of thoughts racing through my mind.

How bad was the burn?

How badly did it burn his face?

Oh god, what if he's blind in one eye now?

I finally find a nurse hovering around with her nose in a file and I breathe a small sigh of relief.

"Excuse me, can you please tell me where Michael Clifford is?" I ask her when I've got her attention.

"Family?" She asks, eyeing me suspiciously. I fiddled with the hem of the flannel nervously.

"Erm, girlfriend," I lie, swallowing the lump in my throat.

"Right. Name?"

"Mae Robins, please ma'am," I choke out.

She purses her lips, looks me up and down one last time and finally nods, looking at me thoughtfully. She leads me down a few halls and to a room. She leaves me outside and I peek in through the window, but all I see are the backs of the boys, and what I assume is Dave and Michael's dad, along with a doctor and a nurse.

I rest my hand on the door handle and took a deep breath, bracing myself.
