Love Goes On

Chapter 8

Laurine's P.O.V

We get to Josh's and there's already loads of food laid out on the table in the sitting room.

"Hmmmmm. Smells nice." I grin inhaling,

Josh smiles. "Eat whatever. So where were you two then?" He grins wriggling his eyebrows.

Cian laughs. "I met her ex."

Dayl starts to laugh now too. "Woah slow down. You've only just met her."

Cian nods, taking the teasing. He wraps an arm around me. "Don't listen to them!"

The doorbell sounds and Josh and Dayl race to the door. What's their rush? Dean's the only one not here.

"Is Dean like magic or something?" I giggle.

Cian laughs.

"He text that he's bringing someone. The boys just enjoy scaring off girls." I shake my head laughing.

And in walks Ciara.

I squeal. She rushes over to hug me . "Oh my." She whispers in my ear and I can't help but grin. I know exactly what she means. We tuck into the food and Josh puts some music on.

Everyone sits chatting until for some weird reason me and Ciara jump up to dance. We do not initiate the dancing. We do not draw attention to ourselves but for some reason we both feel comfortable with these six lads who are essentially strangers. But they don't feel like strangers. It feels like we're all really close friends. I have a good feeling about this.

Dayl grins and jumps up to join us. "I'm liking these ones!" He laughs. "They're keepers."

Cian grabs my hand and spins me around as I laugh.

"I hope you know you really are stunning."

"So are you." Josh grins.

I will never live that one down.

Ciara sits down with Josh and Ryan and the other lads start playfully shoving each other.

Cian pulls me to the side.

"Better keep a safe distance from that."

I look up at him and smile.

"You make me feel safe."

He pulls me in to a cuddle and I'm ready for a compliment this time. I can tell he's going to say something....

"I really really like you." He murmurs into my hair.

"Thank you!"

Oh crap. I did not say that. Why did I say thank you.

Cian laughs.

"I...I mean." He just shakes his head and laughs some more. I'm so embarrassing.

And somehow Dayl has managed to hear.

Dayl starts laughing uncontrollably as all the other lads stare at him.

"Josh. Josh. How do you feel about me?"

Josh grins. "Steady now Dayl."

Dayl laughs some more. "Answer the question."

"Well I rather like you." He laughs.

"Thank you."

And then Josh gets it and joins Dayl in the laughing fits.

What is wrong with me.

"I really like you too." I sigh in embarrassment but the delight is evident in Cian's eyes.

"Do you really mean that?" I nod cuddling into his chest again.

"Go'wan Cian."

"Give her a kiss."

"Awh would ye look at that."

Cian pulls away from me and ruffles my hair.

"They'll stop eventually."

I can't even bring myself to care though. He's so perfect. I know it's too early to catch feelings though.

Feelings.

I do try my best to avoid such vivid sources of pain.

But I guess maybe it's found me this time.

I get why they call it' falling' for someone.

You don't fall voluntarily. But it happens and most of the time it hurts. Some of the time though, if you're lucky, there's someone to catch you, to break your fall.

Is he going to catch me or will I get burned.

I see Ciara glance at me out of the corner of my eye. This scares her as much as it scares me.

There are so many things that can go wrong in this situation. Should I overlook them. Cian comes over and puts his beanie on my head and smiles in satisfaction standing back to look at me.

"It looks adorable on you."

Screw it, I'm sold. How bad can it hurt.? Hey I've been burned before but whatever- love goes on.
