my hands were freezing. my parka and scarf were not warming me up. i needed something warm quickly but i was already late because the bus was late.

running frantically i got to the shop with only a few minutes to spare. the performer before me was still playing thankfully. i rushed over to the manger of the coffee shop. "im sorry im running late i would've been here sooner but the buses-" the manger, an old man with too much kindness to go around, silenced me with a smile and just said "its fine. you are here now. you must be freezing! ill get you a coffee! on the house!" i laughed and set my case next to the table i always sit at. it was in between the small, low stage and the counter.

a guy around my age with bright copper hair and a way too big sweater,  came up to me and said, "coffee for Marcy?" i smiled "That's me. thank you very much." taking the small coffee mug, brushing his hands with mine for only a few seconds. they were warmer than the coffee. "have a good day sir." he said smiling sweetly and ran off. i think his name tag said Kaedyn.

im pulled out of my thoughts when i hear clapping. "next up is our regular star, Marcy Caden!" i quickly sip my coffee and pull out my guitar.

i sit on the little stool and adjust the microphone. "hows everyone doing tonight? i hope everyone's safe and warm. alright im gonna play a special song called you are the coffin originally by the musician Flatsound." i looked around and noticed the copper haired boy from earlier. i smiled at him and started playing.

i finished my set after playing a few songs and i was packing my guitar up. i felt someone walking up to me and i looked up to see kaedyn. i grinned and put on my jacket.

"hi uh Marcy i just wanted to tell you how great you sounded. you're really talented." he said smiling and blushing. i looked down and rubbed the back of my neck, "ha ha thank you so much!your name's kaedyn right?" "yea how'd you know?" he furrowed his eyebrows. i pointed to his chest "name tag." he blushed and nodded.

"so was there any song i played that you particularly enjoyed?" i looked up to look into his eyes.

"oh! the first song, uh i think it was you are the coffin?" i nodded "yea that ones a personal favorite too. really everything made by Flatsound is great." he nodded

"ill have to check him out. uh my breaks over but i look forward to talking to you again." he smiled "definitely, see you soon. stay safe." he walked away and i left a tip on the table before walking out the door into the cold street.

it was basically a corner shop that really wasn't busy but was still getting enough attention. it was getting colder and colder. while i loved autumn and winter, i still complained constantly. i quickly walked to the buses and to my apartment to make a hot drink. i wanted to see kaedyn again.
