My Brother's Enemy

Chapter 9:

-Niall's POV-

I bit my lip as I made my way out of my flat. Deciding against taking the car, I sauntered my way to school, kicking pebbles and stones along the way. My eyes took in my surroundings and I let a sigh escape my lips. Today sure is going to be tough as I have three classes with Sam, two with Harry and one with Louis. I'm sure that as soon as I set foot on college grounds, everyone will start talking about me. Quietly, of course. No one wants me to know they're talking about me. They're probably talking about the incident at the club now. People can say what they want, I don't care.

Gossip, gossip, gossip. That's all people do these days. There's no lies in those words. I wonder if anyone bothers to stop. Even if they were doing something important and someone ran up to them with some spicy news about the newest couple in school, they would stop and listen. How do people listen to that bullshit and not what needs to be heard? It's stupid; but, I guess that's our generation, right? It makes me sick to think that a girl on Facebook that's got barely any clothes on, can get more than one million likes but our nations soldiers get less than one thousand. It's disgusting to think about what the world has come to.

As I moved my feet across the pavement, my arm brushed violently against a strangers. My head shot up, eyes finding their way to the unfamiliar face. She was looking down at her books that had obviously fallen to the ground. She huffed, softly and kneeled down to pick them up. Being the gentleman, I am, I helped her pick all the books up before apologising. She shook her head, shrugging before hurriedly walking away. I turned my head, watching her retreating figure as she left a confused expression on my face.

I carried on my journey, thinking about what had just happened. I had been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her amber eyes behind her nerd glasses. She had a beanie on and a Nirvana top fitted to her torso. Tight jeans were wrapped around her legs and she had a hoodie over her top that hid her arms. A hipster rucksack was draped over one of her shoulders as she had walked away. To be honest, she looked good. One of those geek chicks; but the hot ones. What am I talking about? This isn't a damn story! It's reality.

Finally, I had arrived at the school. I wasn't late because a few people were still outside of school, having a cigar or two. Waving at Zayn, I made my way over to him. He waved back and took a puff of his cigarette.

"Heard about what happened at the club..." He said, searching his back pocket. I bit my lip and leant my back against the wall. When he found his packet of fags, he held his hand out in my direction, asking if I wanted one. I shook my head as a no. He shrugged before putting it back in his pocket.

"What did she say?" He asked.

"That she doesn't want me near her again," I answered in a mumble as I looked down at my feet. I could feel people letting their eyes burn into my soul. Zayn gasped, softly,

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. You used self defence against her brother and she went completely insane?!" He whisper yelled. I huffed, nodding.

"What're you gonna do?" He questioned,

"I have plans," I let a small smirk set on my lips before the bell rang. My feet dragged my body to my first class, ignoring the judgemental states. Unfortunately, my first class was with Harry. I mentally groaned and slung my bag off of me and set it down under my desk. Watching as the class slowly filled up with students, I sighed. Maybe mystery girl that I had bumped into was here? I don't know. I really just wanted to know her name. She seemed like she could be a nice person. As the class had settled down and everyone was in their seats, Ms. Addison began to explain about the new book that we were starting. I listened, jotting notes down on a few things.
