"Hey birthday girl." Lydia greeted Salecia as she came through the glass sliding doors of Sundley & Co.
"Hey Lyd." Salecia chuckled all the birthday greetings and gift she had been getting from workmates.
"I got you something, but I don't know if you'll like it." Lydia said with pushing up her artificial black framed glasses. Lydia bought them at the beginning of the year under the impression that they made her look more 'academic'.
Lydia handed Salecia a medium sized matte black gift back with a red lining on the interior.
"Thanks Lydia." Salecia said while pulling her into a grateful hug.
"No worries." Lydia said while uncharacteristically hugging her back.
"I hope it wasn't expensive this time." Salecia said remembering last year when she received concert tickets for Ed Sheeran.
"I'm not making any promises."
Salecia made a disapproving face and proceeded to opening her gift.
Salecia pulled out a box that read; 'Canon: Street Photography 24mm Pack'.
"Lydia, I have been saving up for this since like February."
"It wasn't that hard to know what to get you since you're always complaining you want it but don't have enough."
"Thank you again though."
"No worries again."
"Oh, did Ashanti invited you to the party in a couple days on Saturday?." Salecia probed.
"Oh yeah, she did. I thought you were the anti-social social club type." Lydia mocked.
"It was basically planned and held for me against my will so I had no say in the matter." Salecia shrugged. Lydia and herself were similar in that way. They avoided any social activity like the plague.
"I so wanna see you being social." Lydia scoffed
"Shut up." Salecia nudged Lydia in the arm a little harder than necessary.
"Let's go shopping after."
"Why?" Salecia eyed at Lydia suspiciously. "You hate shopping."
It was true. Lydia mostly online shopped. She was like a fourty year old dad that was forced to go to the shop and sat in the corner dying inside.
"It's your birthday. You deserve a new outfit."
Salecia couldn't argue with that. She loved shopping."
"Okay then. So it settled that as soon as we've finished here it's straight to the mall."
"Yup sounds good." Salecia said over exaggerating the 'p'.
"Let's finish this before Ms. Sundley shows up. I'm sure that she's always lurking in the shadows."
"Yeah. Let's do that. I do not want to cross paths with that nightmare."
