"Kitten?" The shed door creaked open. I jumped up and involuntarily covered my chest even though I had a tank top on.
Cade stood at the entrance with a shocked expression mixed with anger and... Hurt?
Oh shit.
The infamous phrases 'I Can Explain' and 'It's Not What It Looks Like' threatened to fall from my lips but I held it back. After all, what was there to explain? Aiden and I were getting it on and that's that.
Even so, I found myself stumbling over my words, especially after seeing the bands of red being emitted from Cade's aura.
"Cade I...We..."
"Oh no don't stop on my account," he narrowed his eyes," I just came to see if everything was ok, but clearly everything is fine."
Cade wasn't usually the judgmental type so his disapproval was a bit shocking.
"Cade," I sighed and jumped from the haystack,"We were just-"
"Aren't we supposed to be training or something?" Cade ignored me and leaned against the shed door. His question was directed to Aiden who was standing beside me, his face back to being impassive.
"Or is this-" Cade made a hand gesture towards me,"- part of the training exercise?"
"Cade!" I frowned as his words begun to irk me.
"He's right," Aiden agreed in a low voice,"We should definitely be training. As Guardians, there is no room for distractions and I am truly sorry for taking advantage of you Miss Cyzek."
Whoa whoa what?
Baby I don't mind...
"Yeah whatever," Cade grunted and retreated into the pouring rain.
"You should probably go back inside," Aiden turned his back to me after Cade left,"I will be in soon."
I blinked.
He couldn't be serious! How dare him kiss me then brush it off as though it meant nothing!
Had I just been used?
Realization dawned on me like a snowman in summer. I should have known better. What had I expected? Chocolate and flowers after that one, stupid kiss?
Ok so maybe it was one of the sexiest kisses I've ever had but still...
Aiden wasn't the heart and flowers type so there wasn't anyone else to blame but my damn self.
When will I learn?
"Yeah I'll see myself out." I snapped, grabbed my soaked t-shirt and half-ran to the wooden door.
"Miss Cyzek," I heard him call out. I stopped and grabbed onto the door with my back turned to him.
"That kiss wasn't a mistake."
No rapid beating of the heart.
No swooning.
Just pure,raw anger.
"Yeah right," I retorted and headed into the rain.
"Cade!" I cried as I saw him making his way into the house. He stopped on the porch at the sound of my voice.
"What the hell was that?" I frowned and hugged myself.
"Christ..." he muttered and handed me his jacket.
"I'm going inside Aeja."
What, no kitten?
"No," I stated firmly and grabbed onto his upperarm.
