"Stay.Away.From.Me." I masked my discomfort with a dauntless facade, clenched knuckles and the best growl I could muster up. To be honest, this dark creature was provoking my sense of fear and I didn't appreciate that very much.
"No need to be afraid sweetheart," he cooed and smirked at me. I wanted to smack that fricking lopsided grin clean off of his face.
"I'm not afraid of you." I scoffed.
Truthfully,I wasn't afraid of him,I was afraid of what he could do. I'd had too many encounters with the Dark Clan to actually fear them. If anything, I loathed them immensely.
However, I had to be mindful and remind myself that they were not a force to be reckoned with. I watched them destroy the only place I could call home, not to mention two completely innocent lives among many others, I'm sure.
"There's no need to be,yet. All you have to do is to come with me and to tell me where the Electi is."
Crap.
I silently prayed that Cassia and the others wouldn't come crashing through the woods. I couldn't deal with the guilt of knowing that they were killed when I could militate those events.
Losing my life for someone else was an odd choice; patriarchy wasn't in my element. To skid away from those thoughts, I decided that I would fight. God knows I could.
"So you can kill her?" I laughed in mock humor.
"Kill her?" He guffawed like it was the stupidest thing he'd ever heard.
Confusion struck me. Wasn't that what they wanted to do with the Electi? To kill her?
"How stupid do you think we are?" Alec querried and studied me with his cold eyes.
There was a dramatic pause before he continued. Even nature silenced for his next words.
"We want to get her on our side sweetheart."
"What?" My eyes widened,"You...you can't do that!"
"Oh yes we can," Nadiesha spoke for the first time. I had completely forgotten that she was there, along with another dark one of them who stood(immovable like a statue) to one side. Alec shot her a shut-up glare but she continued talking.
"It's what our leader has decided." She smiled evilly,"The same way he instructed us to capture you and to dispose of the others."
Not over my dead body.
"And who's this 'leader' of yours?" I inquired with genuine curiousity. I'd never considered that they had a designated leader; but why wouldn't they?
Who could the leader be?
The smile that crept onto her face held thousands of secrets, which blossomed in her next words,"Does Clay Cyzek ring a bell?"
What? No.
No.
No.
"Surprise surprise," she teased,"C L A Y... Our leader... Our savior."
"Sounds like you have a lot of experience with him," I spat," He swimming in your ocean?"
"That's enough!" Alec snapped in frustration then turned to face me.
Clay couldn't be the leader.
My dad was the leader of the Dark Clan.
MY DAD.
A sudden rage erupted inside me.
He killed Flora and Lily. He destroyed the academy. He robbed Cade of a father.
