Chris has been busy lately. He's barely at the house. I'm always with Scott. He's nice to me. I hardly see Chris anymore. The only time I see him is when he gets home and goes to bed. Mostly it's 5 minutes or 20 seconds. So at the moment I was playing with East. He was getting sick so I was concerned. Chris has been busy filming. He's been to busy to care about me so Scott has become a brother or father to me.
I was sitting in my room playing tug-of-war with East until I heard Scott talking to someone. I got up and walked towards my bedroom door. I pushed it open slowly and crept down the hallway.
"She's a waste of time and money. I shouldn't have signed the papers. I was never ready for this" I heard Chris say. So I'm a waste of time and money? That's nice. That was sarcasm by the way.
"Well you said you'd promise. Plus she has no where to go" Scott said.
"There is always adoption" Chris said.
"Wow. First you want to get married and have kids. Now all you want to do is work, I've been taking care of Hayley. The poor kid doesn't have any other family members. And if you want to get rid of her then I'll take her. She seems like my responsibility anyway" Scott said as I walked back to my room. So he didn't like me? Doesn't surprise me. I grabbed my book bag and filled it with a few clothes and I grabbed my phone. I opened my little back door in my room and slid out the door while leaving it open a crack. I opened the back gate and took a good look at the house. I'd probably never see it again. I get it that Scott likes me but I couldn't deal with it. Hearing Chris's words made me fall apart and no one would put the pieces back together. I closed the gate and ran down the street. Where would I go?
Chris's P.O.V
I felt bad for what I said. Scott said he'd take Hayley but I didn't want to lose her. She's a great kid. Scott walked to her room to see if she was okay but when he came back he was pale.
"What?" I asked drinking my water.
"She's gone" Scott said making me spit out my water.
"What do you mean 'gone'?!" I asked as I followed him to her room. The door was open a crack and there was no sight of her.
"She heard what we said" Scott said with wide eyes, "we messed up. We messed up big." I looked around the room and noticed the back gate outside was open a little bit. I ran outside and opened the gate. She's gone. We need to find her.
"What are we going to do?!" I asked.
"Maybe the police could track down her phone. She must've took it with her" Scott said as I began to worry and tears blurred my vision. I felt so stupid.
"Chris we'll find her. I promise" Scott said.
"Then let's get looking" I said as we ran to the car after locking the gate. We got inside and drove to the Police Station.
Hayley's P.O.V
It took me a while. I was cold and I wanted something to eat. I walked up the pathway to the large house. Being myself I stood there for a while before knocking softly. Soon the door opened and there stood my friend, Scarlett. "Oh Hayley! I just got a call from Chris telling me you were gone. I'll call him back-"
"No! Don't call him. Can I stay here for a little?" I asked smiling.
"Sure sweetheart but I'll feel bad for not telling Chris" she said letting me inside before shutting the door, "what happened?"
"He said I was a waste of time and money" I said.
"Oh well, he doesn't realize that you're the best thing that ever happened to him" Scarlett said as she showed me to a room.
"Thank you Scarlett" I said hugging her.
"You're welcome" she said as someone knocked on the door downstairs. She looked around the corner, "it's Chris."
"I'll hide" I said but she grabbed my arm before I could run.
"No. You and him are gonna talk" she said pulling me to the stairs.
"No no no no no no no no no no no no no" I said trying to get away but soon I was standing next to the couch and she opened the door.
"Hey Chris" Scarlett said letting him inside.
"Hey Scarlett I need help looking for-" he said but stopped when he saw me, "HAYLEY!" He ran towards me and hugged me tightly. Why? I wiggled away from the hug, "Hayley I didn't mean any thing that I said. I had a bad day and I wasn't in the mood. Scott made it worse by giving me a talk. I just was tired and didn't know what I was saying. I didn't mean any of it."
"Prove it" I said crossing my arms.
"How about I'll take less time at work and more time with you okay. As long as you're happy, I'm happy. All I want to do is be the best dad ever" he said with teary eyes. I stared at him for a while. Did he mean it? "Please Hayley. You mean the world to me. So did your mom." I ran to him and threw my arms around his waist and buried my face into his chest. I tried to keep myself from crying but it didn't last long. I soaked his shirt in tears.
"I'm sorry I ran away" I said.
"Just don't do it again. You scared me to death" he said tucking a piece of my brown hair behind my ear.
"Can we go home?" I asked.
"Sure" he said as he thanked Scarlett and we left the house. He opened the door for me and I climbed in, "promise you won't scare me like that again?"
"You really do care, don't you?" I asked.
"Of course I care. Every time I look at you I see your mom. And I would do anything to make you happy" he said.
"I promise I won't run away again. And if you'll do anything to make me happy, can I come to set with you for Before We Go?" I asked smiling widely.
"Sure. We're going to New York then" he said smiling.
"Yay" I said.
"If you ever need anything you know you can talk to me" He said as we drove down the street and back towards the house.
"I'm hungry" I said.
"Alright" he said as we pulled into the driveway. Scott ran out of the house and engulfed me in a big bear hug nearly squishing me to death. I'll never leave these guys. Their the only family I have.
