Something Unexpected (A Dramione Story)

Chapter 36

‘Oh dear.’ McGonagall said when she read the letter she had just received.
‘Oh no, oh no.’ McGonagall said putting her hand in front of her mouth.
‘This cannot be.’ McGonagall said.

‘What are they nuts? They can’t end her life! She moved her body twice!’ Draco said.
‘Mister Malfoy, you were the only person who saw that and I really want to believe you, but maybe it was indeed your imagination that was playing with you. I mean everyone knows how much you miss her and how dearly you want her with you, and you’re not the only one. But this is not your decision to make it is her parents decision and you have to learn to live with that decision.’ McGonagall said.
‘WHAT?’ Draco said.
‘I’m very sorry Draco.’ McGonagall said dropping the formalities.
‘Can’t I stop them?’ Draco asked.
‘I don’t think so, they already made their decision.’ McGonagall said.
‘They asked me if I could tell you.’ She said.
‘And if you want to say goodbye to Hermione, you can do that this afternoon.’ McGonagall said.
‘All of you can.’ McGonagall said looking at Ginny, who was crying, Harry, who held Ginny close to him and Ron who was really quiet just as his best friend.
‘We’ll do a service at school this evening when it has been done.’ McGonagall said.
‘Wait what?’ Draco asked looking up at McGonagall.
‘When it has been done? Service tonight?’ Draco quoted McGonagall.
‘Yes, they will end it this evening, after everyone who wants to say goodbye has said goodbye.’ McGonagall said.
‘Hermione’s body will arrive in thirty minutes back at Hogwarts.’ McGonagall said.
‘They will end it? They will end IT? We are talking about my girlfriend and best friend, their best friend, the brightest witch on her age! And you say it? She has still a name! and her body? She’s still there, it’s not just a body, Hermione is still in there! I know it! I feel it! I saw it!’ Draco said now really losing his temper.
This startled McGonagall, but she recovered herself quickly.
‘Draco I know you’re sad and mad, but watch your tone.’ McGonagall said.
Draco opened his mouth again, but got interrupted.
‘Draco, please.’ Ginny said softly through her sobs.
Draco turned his head to her. Her cheeks were wet of the tears that were still rolling down both of them and Harry held Ginny tightly close to him. He placed a soft kiss on her temple trying to comfort her. Draco saw that there were a few tears rolling down his cheeks too and Ron has a few falling down too. Draco turned back to McGonagall and saw that her eyes were watery too.
‘I’m sorry.’ Draco said softly.
‘It’s okay, now go to the Hospital Wing, Hermione will arrive in a few minutes.’ McGonagall said walking with the three of them out of her office.
They walked through the corridors down the stairs and towards the Hospital Wing. They stopped in front of the doors and McGonagall opened them. The four of them walked in and there was Madam Pomfrey.
‘She’ll be here in two minutes.’ Madam Pomfrey said.
‘Where are Mister and Miss Granger?’ Harry asked.
‘They’ll come with Hermione.’ McGonagall said.
After two minutes that felt like two hours Hermione, two nurses of St. Mungo’s and her parents arrived in the Hospital Wing of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry.
‘I’m very sorry.’ McGonagall said walking to the two people who looked horrible.
Their eyes were puffy and red. Tears were still rolling down Miss Granger’s cheek and her husband held her close to him with a protective arm around her shoulders. Draco looked at the bed with Hermione on it.
‘This can’t be happening.’ Draco said softly.
‘It is Draco.’ Harry said.
‘We have to say goodbye.’ Ron said.
‘I don’t want to say goodbye.’ Ginny said through sobs.
‘Me neither, but we have too and we have to remember the memories of her we love, not the last ones of her in the hospital.’ Harry said kissing Ginny’s head.
‘I can’t.’ Draco said.
‘I can’t say goodbye yet, this can’t be the end of her life.’ Draco said.
‘It is Malfoy! Face it! She won’t wake up, she won’t ever wake up again.’ Ron said.
‘We’ll give you three some privacy to say your goodbyes to Hermione.’ McGonagall said interrupting them.
‘Thank you professor.’ Harry said before anybody else could open their mouths.
McGonagall nodded and walked out of the empty Hospital Wing followed by Hermione’s parents, the two nurses and Madam Pomfrey. Draco didn’t pay attention to the things Ginny and Ron said to Hermione and then it was Harry’s turn. Draco had tried to pay attention to the things Ginny and Ron said, but he was too far away in his thoughts, but then he heard Harry start.
‘Well Hermione, that was kind of a surprise you gave us a few minutes ago.’ Harry said.
‘A horrible surprise.’ Harry sighed.
‘I thought I wouldn’t have to say goodbye to one of my best friends any time soon, as I already lost so many people.’ Harry said.
‘And I don’t want to say goodbye to you, but I have too, because I would’ve want you to do that with me when I had been laying where you are now. I just want you to know that I wouldn’t mind it at all if you would haunt me the rest of my life and say I have to do my best at school, though the school year is almost over. I promise you I will do my best with everything and study as hard as I can. And can you say hi for me to everyone up there?’ Harry said and at the end of the sentence he choked up.
Ginny got hold of his hand and squeezed in it. He looked down at her with watery eyes and she gave him a small smile. Harry wrapped his arms around her and gave her a tight hug and he made space for Draco as it was now his turn.
‘I don’t want to say goodbye to you. Not now not ever.’ Draco started.
‘I know you are still there, I know you can hear me. I saw you move Hermione, why don’t you just open your eyes?’ Draco asked softly.
‘Please Hermione I’m begging you, if you don’t wake up now, they will end your life and you will never wake up again! Never! In a few minutes it’s too late, then you can’t wake up, even if you want too.’ Draco said and he also choked up.
‘Please Mione.’ Draco begged as he held her hand tightly in his.
‘I love you.’ He said softly and he kissed her lips for the last time.
‘This is just a nightmare.’ Draco said softly.
‘This is just a nightmare, wake up you dumbass.’ Draco said.
The tears Draco tried to keep in were rolling down his cheeks now.
‘Draco this is not a nightmare.’ Ginny said.
‘It’s just a nightmare, you’ll wake up and nothing is wrong with her.’ Draco said to himself.
‘Draco.’ Ginny said.
‘It’s just a nightmare.’ Draco said.
‘Draco.’ Ginny said again, but this time a little bit louder.
‘It’s just a horrible nightmare.’ Draco said.
Draco pinched himself on the arm and it hurt.
‘OUCH.’ Draco said.
‘Wake up!’ Draco said still pinching himself.
‘Draco!’ Ginny said and she grabbed his arm pulling him into a tight hug.
‘She can’t die yet, this is not the end, it’s just a nightmare.’ Draco cried the tears rolling down his cheeks.
‘I’m sorry Draco, I would wish this was a horrible nightmare, but it isn’t.’ Ginny said.
‘It’s a nightmare.’ Draco said softly to himself.
‘It’s not.’ Ginny said.
McGonagall, Hermione’s parents, Madam Pomfrey and the two nurses came in after a few minutes. Draco was now pacing around in the room, biting his bottom lip. Ginny was standing there looking at Draco as he walked from right, to left, back to right. Harry had his arm back around Ginny and Ron was standing next to the other side of his sister.
‘Did you say your goodbyes?’ McGonagall asked.
Ginny nodded.
‘Okay, you can wait outside.’ McGonagall said.
‘I want to be here.’ Draco said softly.
‘What did you say Mister Malfoy?’ McGonagall asked as she didn’t hear him clearly.
‘I’ll stay here with her, I’m not leaving her alone.’ Draco said.
McGonagall looked at Hermione’s parents and they nodded.
‘They can all stay if they want.’ Hermione’s father said.
McGonagall nodded and stepped aside so Draco, Ginny, Harry and Ron could come closer to the bed.
‘Okay here we go then.’ The one nurse said.
‘She’ll be gone in ten…’ The second nurse said.
‘nine… eight…seven… six…five…four…three…’ The second nurse counted down.
‘Wake up Mione, please you can do it, I know you can, please wake up Mione.’ Draco begged her in his head.
‘Two… one…’ The second nurse ended.
‘Time of dead….’ The first nurse said.

A/N:

NOOOOOOO HERMIONE DIED! SHE'S GONE! FOR EVER! And that was the end of Hermione Granger's life, may she rest in piece. Wow okay that sounded quite harsh sorry
Okay I have to admit, I was almost crying while writing this, but I was also listening to a sad song so....
Poor Draco, he was happy then his girlfriend was caught by his own father, then Pansy used the Cruciatus curse on her, Hermione was in a coma and now she's gone.
