So this is a chapter about my girlfriend, Summer. We met last year in eighth grade, but started dating this year.
Like a said in the last chapter she super adorable and really smart. And Asian.
Okay, so I had a crush on her for about a month before I told her I like her. And I wasn't even the one who told her, it was Dean. Even after she knew we remained friends for about two more weeks, until Dean finally pushed me to ask her out.
It took me two day to ask her out.
It was after marching band practice:
"Okay, dude. I'm going to do it." I told Dean.
"Awesome. Don't be a chicken shit." He recently started using the phrase chicken shit which I didn't really understand.
"Alright."
Dean and I put our instruments away and I was feeling nervous. "I can't do it."
"Yes you can. Just go outside. I'll meet you there."
I stood outside, waiting for Dean on the Senior patio. Suddenly I felt someone run into my back. "What the- oh... H-hey, Summer."
She was all sweaty, but still looked amazingly hot. "Hey, Elijah. Dean said you wanted to ask me something."
I don't think I could've felt so many emotions for Dean. I can't even list them all, but the two main ones were anger and thankfulness.
"Oh...uh...yeah." Just then I saw Dean's snug little face. "DEAN, I'M GOING TO DO THIS! THEN I'M GOING TO PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE!!"
"Umm... Do what?" Summer looked really confused.
"Okay, I just wanted to know...uh...Do you want to...uh...-I'M ABOUT TO DO IT, DEAN!!" Now repeat this about 5 more times.
"Just do it, Elijah. JUST DO IT!! You're being so salty."
"Will you go out with me. .." I whispered. "Oh look it's my mom. Gotta go."
As I walked to my truck. I heard Dean shout behind me. "SHE DIDN'T HEAR YOU!!"
The next day...
"Hey Elijah... What were you trying to yesterday.?"
Now you must understand I felt like a complete piece of shit all that morning, because of something that happened with my mom. But, somehow, I couldn't be mad in front of her cute little face.
"Damnit, Summer. I was trying to ask you out. "
The thing that really made me feel like a piece of shit was what she said next. "Oh. That's okay. "
That's okay. What does that even mean? There's so many things that could've meant. So I kind of sat down and stated playing with her ELA text book until Dean for to school.
When Dean saw me, I must've looked horrible, because he asked me, "What's wrong?". And I think he mouthed it because Summer was right there. Playing on her Nintendo D.S.
I got up and walked to the other end of the hallway with Dean, and told him everything that happened with my step-mom. When I was done, Dean looked at me with a sorry expression. "Man, that sucks. I guess you're not going to ask Summer out then."
"I kindda already did."
"What?" Dean said as the first period bell rung.
"I tell you about it later."
"No, no. You're going to tell me now!"
I sighed and told him what happened that morning.
"What does, that's okay, even mean?"
"I don't know. But, we have to go to class."
"I'll see you in band class. Maybe I can ask Summer what she meant, since we have class together."
Okay, I know what you're thinking.
Elijah, WTF. I thought you said you asked her out. This just sounds like you're telling us how shitty your life is.
Just you wait. You'll see soon enough.
First period flew by, and it was time to go to second period. I quickly walked down the hallway to the band room.
Nothing really happened for the band period. After band, I walked Summer and Dean to their math class.
"So, Summer, Elijah didn't ask you out, huh."
"Dean-" I started.
"Nope." Summer said.
"I told you what I was trying to do." I told them.
"That's not good enough." Summer teased.
"I told you he was a chicken shit." Dean said.
At this point, I was feeling a little mad about my best friends double-teaming up on me. Which I am now thankful for, because if they didn't I would have never asked Summer out.
In short, my confidence was fueled by anger.
"You know what, SUMMER, WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME?!" I yelled.
"Yeah." She said immediately.
I kindda turned around and walked away with my fist in the air yelling, "WOOOOOO, SHE SAID YES!! "
I know people were looking at me like I was a weirdo, but I am a weirdo, so I didn't care. I had Summer.
