Chapter 7

Ace

I was sitting in my office when I got the call from my friend Jacob to call me about the ranch it has been a week since I talked to him.

"Sir Mr. Carver is on line two for you. Says its private and important." My assistant said while poking her head through the door way.

"Thank you Caroline." She nodded then closed the door.

Picking up the phone I pressed the number two button and waited for it to go the that line.

"And Ace finally picks up the phone" Is the first thing I hear when the lines connect.

"My assistant said it was important. What is it Jacob?"

"Well....................................You got the ranch. All you have to do is come get the key. I have it by the way."

"Oh thank goodness. Can I get the keys this afternoon?" Looking at the clock and seeing I had four more hours left of work.

"Actually I am down in the lobby and was hoping you would come get them now." Hearing what he said I could imagine him smiling

"Only you would show up at my building to give me keys to my ranch. I will be down in a few." Hanging up the phone I got up and went towards the door and left heading for the elevator to go to the lobby. When I got down to the first floor I walked out and looked for my crazy friend and saw him sitting on one of the lounge chairs.

"Jacob." I spoke firmly

Looking up at who called his name he saw me and smiled. Walking towards me he pulled me into a hug.

"Here are your keys sir." Holding them out to me like he was a butler

"Yeah, yeah. I want to move in this today do you think you could?" I said turning back so we could talk in my office.

"What about Savanna?" Getting in the elevator with me. "You know I don't know why you said you would come down here if we were just going to be going right back up."

"Now that I think about it I realize that but I wasn't planning to bring you up but I didn't want someone to over hear us." Getting out the elevator when the doors finally opened.

"True but what about Savanna?" Walking into my office and shutting the door behind him.

"She is visiting with her rents for the week." Sitting at my desk then looking at him

"Perfect timing then huh?" Chuckling.

"Yeah I guess. So can you help or not?" Still waiting for his answer.

"Yeah I will help." Looking at his phone and looked back up at me, "How does three sound?"

"Yeah I will be off work by then"

"Alright well I will see you at three." Getting up and heading to the door

"Bye Jacob." I said opening my computer

"Bye Ace, and be on time please it will be a long drive. I want to get there and back quickly." Then left and closed the door.

The clock said eleven-thirty, so I had enough time to finish up some work.

Three O' Clock

Walking to my car I hoped in and dialed Jacob to tell him to meet me at my house. After telling him that I started the car and pulling out of the parking lot. I got home and pressed the code for the gate and rolled up to the garage. Getting out the car I saw that Jacobs car was already here.

Heading inside the house I called for Jacob to see where he was at. Setting my Phone and bag on the counter I walked to the counter and opened the cabinet filled with the cups and headed to the fridge to get a drink of water.

"Hey man." Looking behind me I saw Jacob sitting at the island.

"Are you ready to get the stuff in my car and yours." Setting the cup in the sink

"Yeah I already put your music stuff in my car. We just need to move your paints and other art equipment. Oh and your photography stuff." He said getting up and heading down stairs to the basement.

"Alright lets get started." Going into the basement.

An hour later we were on the road and heading towards my new ranch close to a little town named Moreno. The ride was long but when we got there it was definitely worth it. We were on the street for my ranch when I saw another ranch a good hundred acres away. There was a for sale sign on the side of the mailbox. Well at least I won't have to worry about nosy neighbors.

Pulling in the drive way was extremely long, surrounded by beautiful trees that were a light green. Rich in color you could still tell that summer was still in season. Pulling up to the ranch was a breath of fresh air. I couldn't move out the car because I was stunned with its beauty. The outside was a beautiful rich mahogany color. It was two story and had pillars on the front of it. Finally stepping out of the car I closed the door and walked to the front door.

When I got the key in the lock and unlocked the door I couldn't help the giddy feeling inside of my stomach. Finally I will have some peace and quite.

I was walking in and I saw that everything was furnished? What the heck? Turning to go speak to Jacob I saw he was already inside and looking at me with excitement in his eyes and trying to hold in a smile.

"What is all of this?" I asked smiling back at him

"Well I know how much you will need this house when the wedding date gets closer so I called a couple of places and had it furnished as a surprise. Is it good?" He said looking around

"This is great Jacob. You really are a great friend you know?" Pulling him into a hug

"Eh, what are best buds for right. I mean I know it isn't completely done but I did you want you to do somethings on your own since it will be your house." He finished

"Dude it's fine. Lets get all the stuff in here already ok." Walking back outside to get my things.

It took us four hours to bring it all in and figure out where everything would go. By now it was close to midnight and I really didn't feel like driving home so late so we just stayed in and slept on the couches in the living room.

The Next Morning

Since none of my clothes are in here and there wasn't any food we decided to leave the first thing in the morning.

I was hungry and dirty and couldn't wait to get home and shower. Me and Jacob parted ways once we hit the city and I was ready to have that nice warm shower I have been thinking about since the car ride home. But when I got there I was surprised to see Savannas car in her usual parking spot.

Well that's just great. How long has she been here? Did she come home last night when I was gone?

Hurrying out of the car and heading in I unlocked the door and walked around into the kitchen. She wasn't there. Heading into the living room she wasn't there, well then. I was about to turn around when I heard her.

"Where have you been all night." And the way she said so calmly but I knew it was anything but that.

Well I'll be da*ed.
