Ivy
Waking up the next morning I was blissful. Remembering Ace and how nice he had been to take my cold pie. I wonder if it was any good being cold. Anyway I got up and headed for the shower to get ready to ride my horse. Looking outside I saw that it was dawn and the lovely colors of orange and pink lite the sky. Oh today would be a good day for sure.
30 Minuets Later
Finally done with my shower and having had my smoothie for the morning I was ready for Dawn the house cleaning and yard work could wait.
Walking towards the back of my ranch I opened the door and walked out back towards the stables. Getting closer I saw that Dawn was poking her head out looking at me.
"Hey girl, how are you doing this fine morning." Of course she answered back but in her native tongue of horse. "Alright how about we go for a ride after I get you all saddled up, yeah?" Getting all excited she got up on her hind legs and neighed. "I'll take that as a yes then."
Reaching for her gate I walked reached towards her mane and stroked it a little to get her to back up a little and to calm her down. Walking towards her gear I picked up her saddle. You have any idea how heavy it is to carry. I mean me a small person for one here is struggling.
After saddling her up I opened the gate and proceeded to climb onto the step stool. Yes I said it. Step stool. I have one so let me be. Getting on Dawn I asked her the simple question.
"Are you ready?"
Her head held up she neighs and we are off.
Wind in my hair never felt so good. The crisp clean smell of the lake water and goodness the smell of the meadows. You ever been in a place so unbelievable you thought it wasn't real. Only having her for a few weeks and being out here with her has made me enjoy the days more.Afternoons here are so quiet and peaceful. I want to see the whole lake one day. I will. I know it. The breeze it gives from this distance makes me glad I came to live here. A change isn't always good but this change is doing me some good. I wonder if I never got the guts to leave if I would be here or still there.
Coming to a stop I look at the land came with the ranch.
Let me tell you the ranch is big enough for a whole family. I pause in thought maybe I shouldn't have said that. That wound is still fresh.
I look down at Dawn and smile. She really is a beautiful horse. So beautiful. Maybe one day soon she can have a companion with her. I know the dog isn't enough for her. Max keeps her company though for now.
Hopping down I let her wander around the field. I know she won't run off. Even if she tried she would be stopped by the fence. Walking to the meadow I take in a deep breath.
You would think with all the different flowers the smell would be overwhelming. It's not you know. It. It smells like home or you know when you were a kid playing by grandmas garden and you know you weren't supposed to but you just wanted to see and smell all the flowers she had. It smells like that. The flowers all come together to create this beautiful view. I wish you could see it. It would make you smile just at the look of it.
Looking at it all I just can't believe i'm here. I finally made it.
Looking for dawn I see here eating at the grass. Walking towards her I reach out to rub her coat.
"You enjoying the grass" I ask laughing at her. "I guess we can stay out a little longer"
Sitting down in the grass by her I just enjoy the out doors.
3 Hours Later
After putting Dawn back in gate I head back around to the front of the hous
"AHHH!"
"AHHH"
"Why are we yelling"
Hand to chest I push out a slow breath. Sweet cheesus.
"You scared me, that my first instinct"
"Oh, um sorry" He chuckled. He actually chuckled.
"Wait why did you scream"
"You..um..you screamed and sooo...um..I..yeah"
"Ace" I couldn't hold it in anymore. Laughter broke the silence.
"Sorry" He laughed
"It's ok I just wasn't expecting um anyone."
"Sorry, I can go if you'rebusy"
"No, um it's all good I was just going to do some more unpacking and cleaning. Was there something you needed."
"Oh um no I was just coming over to um say you make some really good pie." Hand to neck he rubs it nervously.
Laughing again I couldn't help it, "You came over to tell me about my pie"
"Yes, It was...I just wanted to again say thank you and that it was heaven."
Smiling a little to wide I turn around towards the door, "There's more if you'd like some."
"I wouldn't want to intrude...I.."
"Oh come on in and have a bite, besides between you and me it's lunch time anyway so I could make do with some food and pie. Wouldn't you."
"That would be nice, thank you Ivy"
Smiling we walk towards the front door, pausing I turn slightly
"I should warn you Max is a little protective."
"Oh if your boyfriend is home we don't have to do this"
"Ace"
"Yes"
"Max is a dog, Huskey to be exact"
"Oh"
Chuckling, "Yes oh, Come on in"
Walking over to open the door, I turn , "Seriously I meant it"
"Lord help me then right" He chuckles a little shakily.
Opening the door I hear him screech
"Lord have Mercy!"
And Max had made himself known
