Chapter 11

Ace

Three Weeks Later

I hadn't been to the ranch since I bought it and brought my things into the home. Savanna and I have been arguing over the littlest things and it frustrates me sometimes. Hence what has just happened now.

"Why are you dressed like that we are supposed to be going out." Savanna continued to yell at me for the third time today.

"What are you talking about, I don't have work today so i'm in comfy clothes? What is there a stain or something?" Looking at my shirt

"We made plans on Tuesday to go out today and you aren't ready." Hands on her hips again.

"Babe I don't remember that. When did we make plans?" Suddenly looking at her

"When you were on your conference call I said don't make plans on Friday because I made plans on Friday for us and you said 'yep ok' and kept talking." Just getting louder, letting me know she was angry.

"Babe if I was on a conference call I probably wasn't talking to you. You can't get mad at me you should have told me yesterday that we had plans today." Sitting up in bed and pausing the movie.

"I made reservation and if we don't leave now then we will be late so hurry up and change." glaring at me

"Savanna no, I'm watching a movie and today is my off day. Can't we just relax and enjoy some peace and quiet."

"No, so get up and get dressed."

"No, Why do you have to make a big deal about this it's just reservations. Cancel them so someone else can have the stop where ever you had the reservation." Speaking firmly to her and pressing play on the movie

"Do you not want to make me happy. Are you just trying to left this relationship fail." Coming to cut the tv off.

"Savanna, what the heck. I was watching that. This isn't about a relationship, it's about me wanting to enjoy my off day in some sweats and enjoy a good movie marathon. Why do you want to pick a fight with me." Standing up and heading for the tv.

Moving in front of the tv, "No your not cutting that tv on. Now get dressed and lets go. All you want to do is relax. Relax this and relax that. Get up and do something." Pushing me back

"I do something five days out of the week and when I have an off day I would like to relax. Why can't you understand that is beyond me but let me be Savanna. Last week I took you to your favorite restaurant, last Friday I took you to the mall and let you have a shopping spree. The week before that it was a spa, and lets not for get I sat with you in the movies and watched Never Been Kissed. But God forbid I want to have a relaxing day huh." Moving over to my closet I pulled out my running shoes and grabbed my sweats top. Looking for my keys I found them and grabbed my wallet and put it in my pocket along with my phone.

Staring at Savanna I moved over to the door. "You wanna do something do it yourself, I'm going out." Descending down the stairs and heading for the front door.

"Where are you going?" Rushing after me

"Out to have some peace and quiet." Getting to my car I unlocked the doors and hopped in. Locking them back I drove down the driveway and unlocked the gate so I could leave. My phone started to ring and I heard the familiar tune for Savanna's contact. Putting it on silent I focused on the road and headed to my ranch.

Five Hours Later

Pulling into my drive way I turned the car off and headed for the front door. When I unlocked the door I headed inside and locked it back up. I looked at my phone and saw that it was already five thirty. I quickly walked into the kitchen and made some pasta to have for dinner. Once I had the food made and had eaten it I walked upstairs to my art room. I needed to paint and release some energy and painting helped with that.

I was up there for hand hour playing soft music ballads when I heard a knock on the door. What?

Getting up and heading downstairs I unlocked the door and opened it. Standing on the other side was a woman in sweats and running shoes.

"Um...I...hi." she said looking up

Well ok then, "Hello?"

Smiling slightly and saying, "I'm in the ranch beside you and I thought I would come say hi."

I thought no one lived there? There was a for sale sign, oh well I haven't been here for weeks."I wasn't aware someone lived over in that ranch." Leaning against the door way and smiling.

"Well...I..um wasn't aware someone lived here either but I came home and saw your lights on so I thought that I would come bringing a pie and say hi." Shuffling from side to side.

"What kind is the pie if I may ask." Looking at it from the door.

"Cherry? If your worried I poisoned it I would never do that." Saying that quickly with wide eyes

Chuckling at her, "No, no it's fine I just wanted to know what flavor it was and just my luck it's my favorite kind to." Leaning over to get a better look.

Offering me the pie, I gladly took it off her hands.

"I'm Ivy by the way." Moving back a little on the porch.

Laughing a little because I forgot that I didn't tell her my name,"Oh right, I'm Ace."

Laughing back at me she smiled.I was going to offer her to share the pie with me but she started talking again, "Well nice meeting you Ace and if you need anything i'm just a walk away." walking backwards off my porch

"Bye Ivy." Waving to her I waited until she was half way before turning and walking back inside.

Putting the pie on the kitchen counter and went to a drawer and grabbed a knife, fork and plate. Grabbing a piece I put one on the plate and took a bite.

Oh mother this is heaven, lord she can bake. Smiling I thought about her, my neighbor.
