Coma?
Did I just hear what the nurse correctly? She's in a coma. She's had severe memory loss.
I walked into the room and looked at her swollen face. I was thankful she was alive, but would she awaken from the coma?
I took her hand and squeezed it, "Please. You can't leave me. You're the only family I have. You're my sister. I love you, don't go."
What would I do without her? I sobbed loudly and I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see a sympathetic Dylan. I let go of Sara's hand and hugged him again.
I said a quiet goodbye to Sara, promising I would come back tomorrow. Hoping she heard me........
Dylan offered to drive me home and the ride was silent. He dropped me off, arranging to pick me up tomorrow to visit Sara.
I cried myself to sleep that night. The next day I called in sick, I slept the whole day. In the afternoon, I decided to call Sara's parents and explain what happened.
They were on a business trip in Europe and her mom cried, which made it harder for me to explain. I prayed and prayed, giving all the strength I had to Sara.
I fell asleep again, I awoke with an idea. I went to my storage room and searched for it. Once I spotted it, I took it out and stroked it softly.
It hasn't been touched for a long time. It was last played when I realized I needed a real job. I knew doing what I really loved wouldn't get me anywhere.
I needed money. It was the hardest decision I had to make. I had to give up what I loved most to survive.
I practiced and was ready to play it for Sara. Maybe just maybe...... It would give more hope to her and myself.
I heard my doorbell ring and I opened my door. Dylan gave me a questioning look when he saw what was in my hand. I told him I would explain in the car.
I gathered my stuff and we walked to the car. He told me about his parents grieving and his sisters funeral. I looked into his sad eyes and kissed him on the cheek.
"Will you come with to the funeral?", he asked hesitantly. "Of course. I'll be there, by your side.", I said reassuring and grabbed his hand.
"So you wanna tell me why you have that with you?"..........
