He comes around but each time alcohol consumes his breath,
Never in your life since the day you were born,
Mother has been there the whole way she plays both roles,
Seeing everyone bond with their father makes you emotional,
Knowing you have a father but he doesn't care about you,
Phone call you hear his voice telling you that you need him in your life,
But it's all just lies like it has been from the beginning,
He wasn't there when you needed him the most,
Nights you sat crying thinking about what it would be like if he cared,
Realizing that he never will so you try to erase him from your memory,
Mature childhood very fast you grew up because you had to understand,
Most kids played and spent time with their father,
While you sat in your room thinking deep thoughts,
You spoke with the wisdom of an adult just a kid,
Haven't even lived your whole life yet but you know the truth,
Grew up without a father but you never let that get you down,
Past is behind you and now your married to the future,
Life has been hard but you are a warrior at heart.
