Chapter 9

Y/n's P.O.V

My lungs were on fire but I kept my feet going, I needed to complete this. If not, I don't want to think about this right now, I just need to get this done. I got to the sixth entrance and everything seemed, quiet. Time seemed to stand still for a while, I looked around trying to figure out why. I placed the rabbit down and was about to run to the last entrance when I heard muffled screams coming from inside the entrance.

Crap, group one. Man I really don't have time for this but what kind of person would I be if I didn't save them. I looked into the sky and saw that I had three hours till dawn, I looked down towards the opening and was hesitant to go in but into the darkness I went. I walked slowly and quietly along the walls of the mines and proceeded towards to god knows where. I sure am getting sick and tired of this stupid mountain! If it doesn't get burned down, I'll do the fucken job myself.

"Help. Oh god someone help" the familiar voice whisper-yelled. I followed the voice to an open area, there were some rocks at the side and a big opening coming from the top of the mines. I walked closer and saw three bodies hanging around the opening. One of the bodies was missing the top half of their body, the other two were moving around trying to wiggle themselves out of the ropes. This has trap written all over it, I looked at every corner and saw nothing. I need to get them but how? I look around and saw a rock not too big but big enough that it would make enough sound. I quickly grabbed it and chucked it across the open area, I needed to see if they were still lurking around. I heard a screech and seen them run towards the sound. I quickly but quietly crouched towards them.

"Steven, Alice. Don't make any noise and stop moving" they stopped moving and looked at me. Alice had tears running down her face and Steven looked like he seen a ghost.

"Y/n, thank god. Please you need to help us" Alice whisper-cried.

"Alright. I'm going to cut you guys down and when I did you guys need to follow my lead, exactly. Okay? I promise you that you're going to be okay" Steven at this point looked like he was going to barf, you know for being an older man he sure is a big baby.

I move towards Steven and quietly started to cut him down, he put his palms on the ground so that he wouldn't make a thud. He was cut free and when he started to fall I quickly caught his feet, I helped him lower down and let him untie himself before we went to Alice. Alice was squirming because every time she heard a noise she would start panicking.

"Steven hold her still I can cut it when she's squirming" though when I looked his eyes were wide and he looked greener than before. I slowly turned my head and saw that the Wendigo's were watching us.

"Alice. Stop moving right now or else we'll all die. Just look at me, I'll get you out if it's the last thing I do, understand." She stopped and stared at me with red eyes from crying. I stood still but before I could make another distraction, Steven turned and ran. The Wendigo's ran after him and I took the opportunity to get Alice down. She did as Steven did and put her hands on the ground and waited for the ropes to be loose. Though she was doing a hand stand, she than tipped over and stood up properly. She hugged me tight. She let go and nodded to say 'thank you', I gave her a smile but then it faded when we started to hear noises again.

We fast walked to the walls, as soon as we got to the wall the Wendigo's all grouped up in the middle and threw Steven in the middle. He was clearly dead from the odd angle his head was at. His face was looking right at us and Alice put her hands to her mouth. The Wendigo's screeched and started to feast on Steven, I couldn't watch it was too gruesome. I grabbed Alice's arm signifying we needed to keep going but slowly. She nodded with freshly streamed tears, I felt as she looked broken and drained. I made it half way towards the opening when more Wendigo's came in from the opening; I recognized one of them, the leader. It sniffed the air and looked around until it stopped sniffing and was looking our way. I held my breath and so did Alice, the leader walked over and I could feel my heartbeat picking up at each step it took.

"Alice when they are all gone I need you to run and get the others they shouldn't be too far behind. Tell them that I'm sorry and that they all need to get you out of here because you're the last one" she was about to protest when I cut her off.

"And tell Josh that I truly love him and I'm sorry that I could save him" with that I bolted into the mines one last time.

I ran faster and faster knowing that I needed to get them as far as I can away from her and the others. I could hear the footsteps closing in on me and next thing I know it I'm lifted up in the air and thrown to the side and the last thing I hear is a screech before a bright light takes over.

Josh's P.O.V

I got up and the others had caught up with me. I didn't feel like talking, I just lost the love of my life because I was an ignorant fool. I stood there with my back to the others and put my head in my hands, I could feel my heartbreaking.

"Hey man, what's wrong? Where did Y/n go?" I just shook my head and couldn't look at them. Y/n was the one that gave me courage when I didn't think I could go on. Mike grabbed my shoulders and spun me around.

"Josh. Where is Y/n?"

"She ran away. She ran away from me" Mike just laughed and punched him in the face.

"Fuck you Mike!"

"Mother fucker! That's not why I was laughing. Jesus Josh that fucken hurt" Mike was holding his cheek and I could see that it was going to be a shiner.

"I was going to say before you punched me was that she would never do that! You should have seen her when she woke up in the hospital and told her that you had died. She was devastated, she yelled at us to get out and broke down. She probably just went to look for group one. I promise she's not angry or done with you, she truly loves you and once we all get out everything will be fine" Mike looked at me sincerely and I was about to apologize but Mike got distracted with something behind me, I turned around something ran into me. It didn't have enough force to knock me down but it knocked itself down because I heard a thud. I looked down and saw a person, probably one of group one.

"Alice, jesus you look horrible. Are you okay? What happened-"

"Guys you need to help Y/n. She distracted the Wendigo's so that I could get away but now she's in danger-". She looked at me and backed up and was about to run the other way when Mike piped up.

"Alice he's okay I promise. He's on our team, this is Josh" she didn't relax but had something that flickered in her eyes.

"You're Josh?" I nodded getting anxious because I needed to get to Y/n and she slowly relaxed. She kept staring at me and soon looked at me sympathetically.

"Y/n told me to tell you something"

"What?" I said as I was about to run.

"She told me to tell you... She truly loves you and she's sorry she couldn't save you"

When she finished I stopped and knew that she didn't think she was going to make it. I looked up and ran towards the entrance. I'm getting Y/n back no matter what. I was acting like a spoiled child before but not now. I'm going to be her knight in shining armor.

Sorry for not updating sooner I got busy again but I will be posting later today or tomorrow. I will be posting again really soon! @Delfino0o this one is for you since you wanted me to update (: Thanks for the support everyone and I loved how you all freaked out when I suggested that Josh could possibly die. I though it was funny. But stay on your toes cause you never know what I might do. Anyways have a good day/night and I'll see you later.
