Chapter 4 Tearing Things To Shreds

 Akira's POV

While Mikasa was in another area helping the other garrison members I was on my own . That of course worked in my favor . I couldn't stay around all those humans for much longer . My hunger has been taking over my conscience . A ghoul can starve themselves to a certain limit , but after a while with the lack of food a ghoul's conscience can be severely altered . I finally got the chance to transform into my original form . While I was going around slaying titans I realized that I had to regroup with the others . A disappearance would look strange on my part . I met up with the others and saw them all looking onwards toward the castle . Those faces were all filled with sadness , despair , crushed hopes , and losses . " Damn it ! What do we do now ? " " We did nothing . They've rung the withdrawal signal at least . . . Yet here we are out of gas and unable to climb the wall . Now we're all going to die . . . All of us . . . Because of those filthy cowards . " My gaze rose toward him and then my eyes widened for a second . I then smirked . Hmph , sounds like someone I know . " They lost the will to fight I can understand that , but still ... Calling off the supplying mission , effectively leaving us out to dry so they could barricade themselves at the HQ ? That's just wrong . And of course , the titans come swarming in , and we can't even go replenish our stocks of gas . " Connie then came in getting more hysterical by the moment . " PRECISELY WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO FIGHT TEETH AND NAILS AGAINST THE TIDE AND KILL THOSE TITANS AS THEY COME ! IF WE STAND AROUND HERE DOING NOTHING , WE'LL BE IN THE EXACT SAME SITUATION ANYWAY ! THE TITANS WILL CONGREGATE HERE TOO ! IF WE KEEP SCURRYING AROUNG HERE LIKE MICE TRYING TO ESCAPE , WE'LL ONLY END UP SQUANDERING WHAT PRECIOUS LITTLE GAS WE HAVE LEFT ! AND ONCE WE COMPLETELY LOOSE OUR MOBILITY IT'S OVER ! " " You're head for a change Connie however , do you really think we can make a difference given our current man power ? Most of the garrison from the front guard have been slaughtered . We trainees are all that's left . Who's going to take charge of this suicide mission exactly ? Oh well even if we do find a leader there's not much we can do about these titans anyway . I'm betting the three and four meter titans have already infested the supply room . And there's no way we can properly operate in those conditions . " Connie looked down at him and shocked then turned away . " I guess it is no use ? " Jean sighed then spoke up . " What sucky lives we had . " Sasha then came around to them and tried to make light of the situation along with Marco . Mikasa then went up to Armin and began to question him about Eren's where a bouts . When Armin told Mikasa that he was dead she got up from her kneeling position and stood up with wide eyes in absolute silence . And when the others heard what Armkn said they stood in place , frozen , with wide eyes . I then got tired of them being depressed little shits so I stood up with one of my swords raised in the air . OI ! HUMANS IF YOU WANT TO WALLOW IN YOUR OWN PITY THEN GO AHEAD ! BUT I'M NOT GOING TO BE ANOTHER LOST SOUL THAT HAD A USELESS DEATH BECAUSE OF THESE GIANT NAKED BASTARDS ! SO NOW YOU HAVE A CHOICE ! IT IS TO JOIN BE IN SURVIVAL OR BE KNOWN AS ANOTHER FALLEN SOLDIER YOUR CHOICE ! " After that I took off and then Mikasa soon followed afterwards along with the others . For a short time Mikasa and I went around slashing titan after titan . But that was also short lived . Her gear gave out because of her over usage of gas . Mikasa then fell to the ground me following after her in efforts to try and get her back on her feet . I kept shacking and kept telling her to get up but to no avail . I then saw a titan stand in front of us truing to block our way out . While stategizing the best way to get out of this without revealing myself as a different species . Mikasa then finding the courage in herself got up in a fighting stance and began to change at the titan .Just as she was yelling her battle cry another titan swooped down on us and pursued and killed the titan the tried to kill us .

But why were we spared when we all should've died?
