Today was Eren's Trial. With the current situation it was not looking in our favor. I was asked to be a stand in witness, and possible method for the Survey Corps. incase something was to go awry. However up until that day I somewhat held my tongue and restrained myself from over evaluating the current  situation. This was undoubtably going to be an upfield battle for us. Most of the arguments that could be waged against us (even if unreasonable) would be rational given these circumstances. It unnerved me. It made me somewhat uneasy. This wasn't good not at all.

I walked along a narrow pathway with Levi and Erwin waiting to hear their little game plan for the up coming events. "So Akira. You understand what you have to do? Correct?" Erwin looked at me with this sense of dread that was even slightly yet still noticeably evident in his voice. I gazed back toward him in this  manner that could clearly be defined as 'not amused'. "You really think I'd forsake this little plan of yours? Don't get me wrong sir, I really don't adore you and this sinfully simplistic plan of yours. However , what ever keeps Eren alive and not in a dungeon about to get dissected like a frog I will gladly go along and follow through with you on this little scheme of yours. Just don't fuck it up and make a fool of yourself and everyone rallying behind you ,and I can act civil... For now at least." He merely nodded toward me as we continued to walk down hallway in complete and utter silence.

As we arrived Eren was already kneeling down handcuffed to the post in center stage. This could be seen as inhumane, but given the current situation this was only reasonable. And to me it was just another plausible death. However, instead of it being the victim of an about to be premeditated homicide on my accord it was so close to being a possible premeditated homicide on the military's accord. Now this was a true game of chance, and quite a bloody one at that.

Levi, and I stood on the sidelines as Erwin  made his was towards the center of the court about to convey his argument. However, this was where the fearful , and dreadful part of this story came in. We needed Eren to act like a nice , quiet, and peaceful little tool. But if pushed too far he might snap. Not only that , but we also had to deal with the outcry of the religious nuts and ignorant civilians who continuously tried to beat down our argument points for the entirety of the case. This would have been a normal problem worth glazing over, but since those ignorant civilians who happened to be part of the Merchant's Guild  who contributed to a lot of their earnings the economy ( an unstable economy none the less) we couldn't displease them. And to add more salt to the wound that little religious cult over there held so much jurisdiction within the walls that it was almost if not completely and utterly impossible to blatantly ignore their public outcry.

This wasn't good Erwin not at all. He went on with this simplistic plan that seemed easy said , but hard when executed. However to somewhat bring the peace back in the courtroom Levi had to slyly and cynically state that in quote, 'Squealing louder won't help your case pig.". He said this so nonchalantly that it almost made me think he was devoid of any human emotion. However given his thesis statement it made it obvious to me where his loyalties and enemies lied. But with this being said it was well spoken.

However this wasn't enough to keep the swine over their from arguing amongst each other. It made me clearly see that that cult over there didn't have a small hold in this dystopian reality , but it held this realities government by the balls. It was almost to the point that no decision could be made without this religious organization present. I guess the separation of Church and State is pretty much nonexistent here. But with all of this being added it only made our case harder to pass through.

However, a single somewhat logical question was asked, "As a soldier you have gave a solemn pledge to humanity's cause. Can you still serve by controlling your abilities?" And just like expected he took the bait, and immediately said yes. Stupid fucking kid. Does he know what significance that word holds as of this very moment. He might as well have signed a contract that would sell his soul to the devil. Now if he fucks up there will be no leeway for him whatsoever. Not only that but as of result everything we fought for (if we win this case) will be seen as null and void. No consideration whatsoever. He's just acting on passionate impulse as of right now.

Not only that evidence has now surfaced about the whole incident with Mikasa.  As gasps and shouts soon completely consumed the court room it became completely evident to me. We were losing this argument and this fight. It was over for him. It was as clear as day.  She had to answer him honestly, but she managed to try and sway, but yet again that asshole Nial had to bring up the past which involved them killing their kidnappers. I couldn't let this go on this was McCarthyism and Puritan Witch Hunting combined into one. I had to step in.

"Excuse me Sir. I have something I would like to add. As their legal guardian I believe my point of view and opinion on this situation would be helpful." Now all eyes were on me. "As their guardian I know for a fact that both of them hold no ill will towards humanity. They both joined the army to try and combat these monsters in  order to not only help humanity , but to avenge their parents Carla and Grisha Jaeger. They both are mere children who are not even capable of harming people unless in self defense. I understand that indirectly lives have been lost, but would you rather lose the lives of mere scum and a few soldiers or would you rather lose the entire population of those residing within the walls?"

More chaos ensued until a bone breaking smack was heard within the courtroom. Eren was being brutalized , and there was not one damn thing I could do about it. But this was the act we had to make. We had to portray him as a weak child or else none of this wouldn't have worked out so well for us. "You know personally I think nothing instills discipline like pain. You don't need a good talking to what you are in need of boy is to be taught a lesson. And you happen to be in perfect kicking position." This continued onwards for a few minutes until Eren was put under Levi's supervision for the duration of our missions. But this wasn't the worst of it, no not by a long shot.

You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist. - Friedrich Nietzsche
