Unfortunately, Natalia's flipping stomach was only the beginning of her pregnancy woes. After a heart wrenching loss in Porto, and a turbulent flight back to Munich, Natalia felt like she wouldn't eat ever again. Everything that was once delicious was suddenly nauseating, and she couldn't be in the same room as anything cooking for longer than a few minutes, before feeling lightheaded and like her stomach was going to turn inside out. She had only actually thrown up a handful of times, but her lack of food consumption worried Thomas for the remainder of their trip. It was Anna's turn to teach Thomas how to make the nutrition shakes she gave her charges who wanted to bulk up—the only thing that didn't make Natalia feel sick.
"Will you be okay on the flight?" Thomas asked a rather pale looking Natalia (they just walked past a coffee shop with rather aromatic cinnamon rolls). Natalia nodded, and turned to hug him.
"Hopefully the next time I come back, it'll be for good," she said with a smile, looking up at Thomas' beaming face, who kissed her briefly.
"Call me when you've spoken to them," he said referring to her parents, at her retreating form.
Natalia nodded and blew him a kiss goodbye before handing her ticket and passport to the security agent.
After landing in London, and coming home Natalia was ecstatic to see Jamie. Even though she was only gone for two weeks, she felt like he had grown so much in her absence.
"Thanks for the trip, guys," Natalia said to her parents, gratefully. They also made her dinner in her flat before her arrival, something that Natalia steered clear of by telling them she was on a diet, and only taking small bites. Natalia's mother looked at her with a narrowed glance, but changed the topic of conversation when Natalia stated "Later." Jamie played with his toy cars on the ground and currently imitating a dump truck backing up by repetitively yelling "beep".
Natalia sighed, and shook her head. She was happy to be back and with her family, but after spending 2 weeks with Thomas, and having him wait on her hand and foot, having to care for herself and small Jamie was going to be exhausting. She helped her parents clear the table, and her mother managed to shepherd all three adults into her small kitchen without Jamie noticing.
"So darling, a diet? That's new and unheard of," her mother said with a Tanya-like-smirk, putting her hands down on the counter in front of her. Natalia's dad only looked confused.
"I was sick the whole time I was in Germany, so I went to see a doctor," Natalia said with a small smile, "We're expecting." She said quietly her smile getting bigger.
The next thing she knew, she was wrapped up in her parents' limbs, who were asking questions a mile a minute, about how long, how she was feeling, and how dare she not tell them earlier.
"About 6 weeks, no I haven't seen a doctor here, and most of the time I'm trying not to vomit, but I'm happy about it," she said leaning away from her parents, when she noticed they both had tears in their eyes.
"What? What's wrong?" Natalia asked looking at them, her smile falling from her face as quickly as it came.
"Well you'll be moving back to Munich, won't you?" her mother said wiping the tears from her eyes.
Natalia nodded slowly, "I suppose I am."
"Well, I suppose we'll have to come with you won't we," her father said looking over her head to her mother.
"Charlie!" Natalia's mother exclaimed
"You wouldn't," Natalia said leaning away from them.
"Well why not? I want to be close to my grandkids," her father said with a shrug, "Your heart is in Germany, we're retired as it is, and the German countryside is lovely. What about it, Liz?"
Natalia's mom paused for a moment and placed her hands on her hips. "Well, I suppose that'll have to do for a while!" she said with a large smile.
After that conversation things mostly fell in place. Marco's parents weren't happy about the news that Natalia and the rest of the Klein's would be moving to Munich (at least for a few years, as Natalia's mother insisted). However, Natalia's father insisted that they were more than welcome to stay with them anytime they wanted to visit.
