Epilogue

Christmas, three years later.

Natalia awoke to the sound of small feet on the floorboards. It was cold in the house—Thomas must have forgot to set the thermostat. Again.

She tried not to move a muscle but soon felt three bodies jump on her bed and begin hitting her with pillows.

"Rahhhh!" she said loudly sitting up, earning screams from the rambunctious children. She took in the appearances of her children. Jamie's hair was long—something he insisted upon that made him look "cool," and frankly looked like Lionel Messi in the early 2000's. He had the makings of a great footballer. He was calm, dedicated, and energetic, and could kick a ball harder than Thomas could at his age.

Natalia and Thomas enjoyed a Christmas wedding three years ago, and on a cold spring morning, the twins were born. Natalia talked him out of having a "big white wedding," and they had a smaller ceremony with just their closest friends and parents. She wore a label-less white dress, and they had dinner surrounded by the most important people in their lives. The Muller's were there, Marco's parents were there, everyone who she loved and cared about gave their blessing which was the best thing either of them could have asked for.

Up until the morning they were born, Natalia and Thomas were under the impression that they were having boys—however they were blessed with a boy and a girl. Robin Tanya Muller, and Johannes Marco Muller were the blessings Natalia prayed for. As difficult as the pregnancy and labor had been, she hardly remembered the early days in which she was bedridden and miserable. All she was left with was two bundles that made her heart swell with joy. She still glowed when they all went out as a family, and when people spoke of them in the tabloids as "Mullers army". People began referring to them as "Heer Muller" at matches, since she always brought the kids when she worked as a medic.

Cat and Erik also frequented matches, with their daughter Rosie, who was close friends with Robin and Johannes. Gemma and Jamie were close as ever, and Sarah and Natalia frequently joked about their friendship turning into a relationship when they were older. Jamie was a champion through all of this—he was the glue that kept them all together, including her 18 hour long labor. He didn't sleep a wink, and only calmed down when he was able to clamber back on top of Natalia like a koala, like he did months ago.

Two years after the twins were born, Natalia's parents switched homes with Thomas and Natalia. They needed the yard space, and they had the perfect number of bedrooms. Thomas still spoke about moving into the countryside but that would have to wait until he retired from football altogether. He had a dream to be in the next years World Cup squad—and Natalia had every confidence that he would make it and win. Joachim still dangled the opportunity to be on the medical staff in front of her at any opportunity he could, and Natalia was finally considering taking it.

"Good morning my ducklings," she said greeting each of the small humans with a kiss and lying back down to join Thomas, who had yet to join the group in consciousness.

"Daddy, wake up," Robin said loudly, hitting her father's face with her small pudgy hand.

Thomas opened one eye lazily, and Natalia spotted the trace of the scar on his face that she patched up the first time he told her he loved her. She smiled at the memory, and beamed when he sat up suddenly and caught his daughter who screamed in delight as she was knocked off of her feet and he caught her in his arms.

The kids set off in another screaming match of "Wake up, wake up! It's Christmas!" bout and bounced on their bed repeatedly.

"Alright, go get started then!" Thomas said his voice still gruff from sleep.
