She woke up feeling tingly. Her body felt different. She felt something pulling her. She let it. Slowly she rose from the bed and walked. Shakily from the room. She followed her own body to the stairs. She didn't know where they led but she knew something wanted her up there. She had no power against it. The pull got more and more intense the closer she got to whatever it was. On shaky legs she climbed the stairs. The only thing on her mind was she wanted to meet the man who made her feel warm. She wanted to know what he looked like. Wanted to know who he was. At the top of the stairs she stopped. The light was brighter that usual. She heard voices even though she was alone. She smelled chocolate and bacon, her stomach growled at the thought of those two together. She didn't want that right now. The pull was very strong. As she took a step someone came into the room. Her legs gave out and strong arms caught her. That warm feeling came back. This was the man. Her man. Where did that come from. She didn't know what that was. He wasn't hers. She didn't even know his name. She stared up into his amazing blue eyes. She could stare at him all day long. She opened her mouth and no sound came out. She began to panic. Trying to say anything. Nothing came out. Why couldn't she talk? What had the men done to her? Where was her voice? Her hand flew to her throat and she tried to push to make a sound. Why was nothing happening? The man who held her began rocking and humming. The action and sound soothed her. She felt herself relaxing and slipping into a state. Before she knew what happened she bit his neck and blood touched her tongue. She was shocked but it tasted so good she couldn't stop. She drank the blood with welcome hunger. When she had her fill she stopped. She tried to speak again but this time a whisper came out.
"I am sorry..." She tried to say, " What just... Happened?"
"It's normal, I should have been below when you woke. I have you now. Lets get you back to the clinic." He said softly as he lifted her and carried her down the stairs. He was shocked that she had fed from him. She didn't know what to do let alone that she was a vampire. What amazed him was that she knew when to stop. He laid her on the bed and turned to leave.
"Stay... Please." She asked him in her hoarse whisper.
He nodded and grabbed a chair and sat down. As he did so he hit the call button and held her hand. She looked scared and lonely. She needed him and he was there. She was his mate. The one he had been waiting for. Zsadist would have to accept that she chose him as well. She fed from him. She asked him to stay. She came to him. She held his hand. She needed him. That's all that mattered to him. Jane walked in and stopped.
" What are you doing here?" She asked.
" She wanted me here. Right?" He asked Phoenix. Phoenix nodded in agreement. "She can't speak."
"Its no wonder. They did a number on her throat. I had hoped it would heal with the change. There is still hope. I'll check for damage soon as she gets fed." Jane said.
" She already fed... From me." He said, " She found her way upstairs. I was on my way to the gym and there she was falling to the ground. I saved her from crashing to the floor and then she's attached to my neck and feeding. I didn't want to stop her."
"Yet you did."
"She did that on her own."
"I am right here you know." Phoenix whispered to them.
"Yes I'm sorry. How about I do some checks and see if we can finally move you out of this room." Jane said as she pulled out the chart.
He stepped back and watched as the doctor began her work. She worked quick and wrote a lot of notes. As he waited for the ruling he began to feel possessive over Phoenix. He wanted to hold her hands. He wanted to comfort her. That was his job as her bonded mate. He still could smell her all over him. He could feel her lips sucking at his neck. He could feel his pulse begin to race. He felt himself hardening at thinking about her feeding from him.
"All clear. She's ready to go. But I suggest you stay clear of Z until you change. I doubt he would be happy with the fact her smell is all over you." Jane informed him. "I'll take her up to her new room."
Phoenix grabbed his hand, " Please go with me. I don't want to be alone."
The look Jane gave him told him that she didn't approve but she didn't argue when he took her hand and helped her off the bed.
"Thank you, doctor. How can I repay you?"
"Just please accept your father and avoid hanging all over each other." Was all Jane said before leaving.****
