He had decided to see how she was doing. He couldn't take the aloneness he was feeling without her. Training was picking up again tonight and he wanted to be sure she was going to be there. He arrived at her room and knocked on the door. The door opened and there stood Blaylock and he smelled the smell of tears.
" What have you done to her?" He demanded as his bonding scent filled the space.
"Nothing. She needed to talk and called on me. I think you should remember who you are dealing with and back down. She will be in class in an hour." Blaylock said as he closed the door and left him standing there.
What was going on? Why hadn't she called him? Why didn't she need him? He wanted to be the one in that room. He wanted to be the one to calm her years away. He wanted to be there to comfort her. He wanted to be what Blaylock was being now. He meantly a shook himself. It was probably nothing. She might have been crying for something entirely girly. His mother did. As he walked down the hall he saw Quinn heading into the tunnel.
"Whats going on with Blaylock and Phoenix?" He asked as they walked through the tunnel.
" She is having a rough time right now. She needs a friend. Someone who understands what she's going through. Someone like him. Someone as troubled as she is. He is that. Don't question that." Quinn told him.
"But shouldn't I be that for her?"
"Same goes for me. Ive hurt him in many ways and he hides it well. But when he's with her he feels normal. Free to talk about it. That's something I can't give him. In time she may allow you to know. Just give her the space she needs."
They split up at the class rooms. Quinn went into the locker rooms and he had to prepare for the upcoming training class. Tonight they were learning hand to hand techniques to use on the Lessers. She walked out of the locker room and into the class room designated for her. There he was, standing tall and proud. Looking tall and handsome. Her body went warm with wanting. She took a seat and waited. She felt his eyes on her. She wanted his hands on her.
" Tonight is combat training. The last portion of hand to hand combat you will learn in this level. We will move on tomorrow. But for tonight, leaders are soulless humans who have signed their life to the omega and vowed to kill us. They terrorize us and attack our people. As of late they have targeted pretrans, and have resorted to kidnapping and torturing them. This is highly unacceptable. The king wants these attacks fought against. We don't want to have to alert all of the race. It's important that you learn these skills for the field." He said, "Let's head into the gym and get started."
The rest of the class left in a rush and she waited for an alone moment with him. She walked up to him and kissed him. He looked shocked and he held her.
"I needed this." She said softly.
"Then why didn't you call on me instead of Blaylock?" He asked her.
She pulled away and turned her back on him. "Because when you know the truth about me you won't want me anymore."
"I bet your wrong."
"I am not wrong. My past has ruined all the relationships I've ever had. If you want to know I'll tell you soon. When I'm prepared for the rejection."********
