Chapter 1 - The Letter

Chapter 1

Lily:

It was another beautiful summer morning, and Lily Evans was enjoying a bowl of cereal while listening to her sister, Petunia, complain about a girl she passed in the shop. She was looking forward to seeing Severus, as she feared time was passing by so quickly and she would not see him for much longer. Severus was Lily's best friend, and they shared a special talent - both of them had magical powers. Lily was the only one in her family with magic, where as Severus had a magical mother. Lily wished she could of grown up with a magical background, - even though she loved her parents dearly - especially because Severus claimed that he was going to go to a magical school. Lily was registered in a local school, and Severus was going to school called Hogwarts. Unfortunately, the school was far, but he said that she would probably go as well, but she highly doughty it - how could the school know about her if she had no magical past? Oh she longed to be in the same school as Severus! If only she could have the same opportunity!

Lily was daydreaming and dwelling over this matter until her mother came into the kitchen with the usual mail, except one that had a coat of arms stamp o. As Lily's mother went through the mail, she reached this one and frowned.

"Letter for you Lily - though I must say it looks very strange" She said confused as she handed her the letter.

Lily took the letter and read it, it said

"Ms. L Evans,

Second bedroom upstairs,

Cokeworth,

England"

"How odd!" She thought - how could someone know her exact location. As she turned it around, she saw the word 'Hogwarts.' She gasped, starstruck, think about what Severus said. She carefully opened the letter with her delicate hands as her family surrounded her, just as curious as she was.

She started to read out loud "Dear Lily Evan, we are pleased to inform you that you have been excepted to Hogwarts School of witch craft and wizardry!" She looked up at her parents, eyes wide and mouth open. He parents had a huge smile, while Petunia scowled.

"Is this the school Severus mentioned to you?" Inquired her father. Lily gave a quick nod while standing up.

"It, it can't. It can't be! I can't believe it!" She squealed with excitement. Before she could say anything else, she ran out the door as fast as she could to see Severus.

As she got to the Big Tree (her and Severus's meeting point) she saw him lying down in the shade. As she got closer, panting like crazy, she noticed Severus had a similar letter on his lap. He opened one eye, and then immediately sat up as he saw what was in her hand.

"You got in?!" He exclaimed with a huge grin on his face

"You too I can see! This is amazing, I mean, it's just..." She blurted out as she fell to the ground.

She and Severus exchanged looks of joy, both of them knowing this school was going to be fantastic.

James:

Half across the country, James Potter was practicing his magic tricks, and unlike Lily, he was expecting his letter. For his whole life his father had told his stories of when he was in Hogwarts, especially of his house Gryffindor. James had hoped to follow in his dad's footsteps, living a life of confidence, and if he was lucky, popularity. He heard his father's behind, at which point James swirled around, looking straight at his father's hand. His father beamed as James snatched the letter and ripped it open. He jumped up and down, at which point his mother waled down the stairs

"What all the fuss ab-"

"James has been accepted into Hogwarts!" James's father said very proudly while puffing out his chest. "Well son, let's face it - this is probably the best news you'll get in your entire life"

James broke into a beam that was so big in could light up a pitch black room. The family exchanged hugs and squeals, until James mother pulled herself out of the group hug.

"James you know what this means" She asked looking down at him, "This means someone is going to Diagon Alley tomorrow!"
